you were in charge of star trek canon

For you, the day you read that post was a notable day of your life. But for me, it was Wednesday.

I'd retcon all the male characters as female, all the female characters as male and all the Klingons as Ewoks.

I would make the literature officially canon and make the supernova destroying Romulus in 2387 part of their continuity.

If I was in charge of the cannon I would load it with forks and knives and things and try and recreate the scene from Pirates of the Caribbean.

The only way to be "in charge of canon" is to be the one calling the shots on any new Trek productions.

So I'd start completely afresh using a "broad strokes" approach, drawing some inspiration from what came before, but focusing on relevant and compelling storytelling that will draw in the largest audiences and make the most revenue, instead of being enslaved to decades of minutiae that only aficionados are familiar with.

All previous Trek would still exist, now sitting back in the corner wearing a conical "Star Trek Legends" cap. Especially TNG.

^Conversely, I would have a staff of Trek nerds to continuity-check any new stories against past episodes. :)

All I want for Christmas is a Nerd Canon Fight

Also, for an alien planet, the religion is very Judeo-Christian in its practices. Churches, prayer, avatar figure, epic battles between the forces of good vs evil ...
Well, one of the defining characteristics of Abrahamic religion is monotheism.

The Bajorian religion is polytheistic, this would be a major departure.

Interesting.... Funny, I never thought of it as polytheistic. I'm not sure putting an "s" at the end of "Prophet" makes it so, though? Prophecy seems to have been a thing, but it's not like the Prophets had names?

Maybe Bajor's case needs a new definition.... like Specietheistic?

A further thought regarding Nerd Canon Cannons™ (uniderth Industries, LLC)

Would it not be extremely unlikely the things would ever be fired, due to Nerdguments over Megawattage and bore-age and megaton-age and range-age and such?

All of the FASA source books will be integrated into established canon, when in dispute, FASA wins out.

The Federation has over fifteen hundred members species.
Starfleet is a vicious militaristic mama bear protect it's offspring.
The Klingons are a complex society of enslavers.
No one has clue about the Romulans.
