"You named the Borg?"

I actually liked this line better, from Night Terrors:

"That was setting number 1. Does anyone want to see Setting 2?"

Guinan's meeting with Picard in Generations in her candle lit room was superb. "He's developing a weapon"..... followed by a smile then "Soran doesn't care about weapons"....

Say what you will about "Generations," but I think that movie featured some of Guinan's best scenes.

I don't. I thought it was one of the many examples of how the movie failed to measure up to the show. You could always rely on Guinan's scenes with Picard to be one of the best parts of any episode they were in, but in the movie all she did was exposition - giving him some background on what the Nexus is and who Soran is. Compare this to the great interaction in "The Best of Both Worlds", "Yesterday's Enterprise", or "I, Borg" when their scenes together really cranked up the intensity of the story and established how dire the situation was as she provided Picard with her opinions and challenged his own. In "I, Borg", my favourite Guinan moment is where she totally exposes Picard's almost racist-like disdain for the Borg.

Guinan: If you're going to ask this person...
Picard: IT'S NOT A PERSON, DAMMIT, IT'S A BORG!
Guinan: IF you're going to ask this PERSON...

That's so cool as a serious and intense scene that's also funny. The humour is in how Guinan is not phased by Picard's shameless bigotry and shows how firmly committed to her opinion she is without doing anything more than just repeating what she was saying with stronger emphasis. I loved Whoopi's subtlety and confidence in her performance.

Yeah, I like her a lot too. I kinda wish she'd been in First Contact (not that it wasn't good without her). I'm sure she'd have something to say about the Borg (she helped build them up in the show by often talking about how they scattered her people all over the galaxy). She might have been repeating what she said on the show, but it just would have be nice to see her onscreen in another Star Trek movie and it would have seemed new for those not so familiar with the show. Also, it's too bad she didn't say anything in Nemesis even though she was at the wedding. :(

Guinan has been and always will be one of my favorite characters. It's too bad that she was unavailable for that episode of DS9 where she was to appear to reclaim her wayward son (Rivals).

Aw, I didn't know there were ever plans for her to be on DS9. Now that I'm into the show and I think about it, I would have loved to see her interact with that crew. I bet she'd have fascinating conversations with Sisko...different from those with Picard, of course, but fun in their own way. Especially since Sisko is such a hothead (even more than Picard) and she was always great at calming down hotheads. :)

I wish we would have gotten to see the story they were planning for her as a powerful being play out (although I suppose it may be better to not remove the mystery).
