You know you're a Star Trek nerd when...

When i was a teenager and kept borrowing my mums phone just to flip it open and pretend it was a tricorder. But my mother and brother were doing that too so i wasnt alone.

Also when i got my first job and was earning my own money for the very first time and looking round for somthing to spend it on. I ended up collecting DS9 on dvd one season at a time. Basically i would set myself a goal of how much i had to have saved in my account and then reward myself for achieving my goal with a new season of DS9 before repeating the exercise. I still have those dvds and regularly rewatch them :)

When the top 4 series on your Netflix load screen are TOS, TNG, Voy, and DS9 (Enterprise is on there, just further down the list).

When you can play not just "Amok Time" and "Doomsday Machine" music in your head...but several other motifs.

When the top 4 series on your Netflix load screen are TOS, TNG, Voy, and DS9 (Enterprise is on there, just further down the list).

Ditto. With the inclusion of TAS. With Doctor Who stuck in the middle.
I'm really lazy. I watch on Netflix even though my box sets of TOS and TAS are almost within arm's reach right at this moment. But my XBox controller is closer.

When you are a moderator on a Star Trek board?

When your son's middle name is Archer?

Same here. I have the box sets but I'd rather use my XBox 360.

Back to the driving motif,....When a idiotic driver cuts you off and you give the command..."Mr. Sulu, Lock phasers on target and await my command."

When you see an actor in a movie or series that made a one-time appearance on one of the Trek shows or films and you blurt out his/her character name, the series/film he/she was in, and the name of the episode. Oh, God, help me!!

When you argue for thirty years that Bob Wesley from "The Ultimate Computer" is not the regular captain of the Lexington. :guffaw:

...or when you argue for thirty years that he is and that the flower insignia originated from the Lexington. :p

Could it get nerdier? I do think so:

When you're so stuck up in Grand Unified Theory fundamentalism that you

  • no longer acknowledge revisions to be actual continuity errors or changed premises and
  • feel that the original creators/artists/producers had no idea what they were doing but those that came after (and applied the revisions) knew so much better
(Sorry, just had to read too much of such BS on another thread page today :ack:)

Bob

Whne you can't recall something, you say "I don't remember", like Scotty in "A Wolf In the Fold", complete with accent.

When you can't decide what to do with your free time: watch a Star Trek episode? Watch a Star Trek movie? Read a Star Trek novel? Play a Star Trek game? Or work on your Star Trek screenplay?

Also, I named my cat Khan.

Calling your cat must be AWESOME.

When you start equating your work heirarchy to the command structure of a starship. For example i'm a store manager which would be the equivalent of being a Captain. My area manager would be an Admiral and Casual staff are Ensigns through to Commanders based on how long they have been with the company for.

Thinking what would Kirk/Picard/Sisko/Janeway do when faced with a crisis. I leave Archer out of it because i know he would just give some stupid speech about a baby animal being born.

I was watching Dead Poets Society the other day which features Kurtwood Smith. When his characters son commits suicide all i could think was 'so that was why annorax built his timeship'
