Right. If they were to take the basic idea of Vaughan, a centenarian Starfleet officer with a mysterious espionage background, they could simply have the Abramsverse version be born in the 2140s or 2150s.

Right, or just have a young Lt. Vaughan from SI get assigned to the Enterprise in the next JJ movie. Either way my vote is also for Vaughan. (T'Prynn as his sidekick would be a bonus as well).
