Yet another Star Wars movie re-release

The fate of Luke and Leia's mother was never explicitly described; Leia's statements about her in ROTJ can be attributed to the Force.
Nope, sorry, don't buy that at all. Not one bit. ;)
Reason #91: The Death Star
Also not a violation. Maybe the second one was constructed in a different manner because the Empire figured out a faster, cheaper way of doing it than they did the first.
Yeah, sorry, don't buy that either. :)
You don't have to "buy it" for it to be right. :techman:

Tatooine, although not a part of the Republic, is still connected to the rest of the galaxy. Presumabely Obi-Wan got the news via the hologram information service (As the novel "Dark lord" makes clear, it's how he becomes fully aware that Anakin is alive & armored).

There's also a possibility that the Endor project was being developed at the same time as the original, but took longer because it was much larger and presumabely had to be reworked a bit following the Yavin debacle. Of course the EU doesn't help things with superlasers popping up practically everywhere in the old Bantam days.

It's also important to realize that there are several inconsistencies between the OT films as well as the Prequels. And then there's the EU which is full of inconsistencies, retcons, point-of-view explanations and all sorts of stuff.

I'm sure that Obi-Wan makes himself aware of stuff going on in the galaxy...he's a hermit but I got the impression that he distances himself from the Skywalker family mostly. He'd still keep himself apprised of some events.

let's hope that the 3-D isn't some new randomly placed insect or plant that will jump out at you in scene like at Dagobah or Endor, but rather thought out placement that will make you go awww and cool not because of the technology but it would be cool see the Devastator vs the Tantive IV going over our heads.

This is more of a case of fans being upset that their accepted theory was incorrect.

Exactly.

Anakin retained his identity in the Force because he was the Force (its physical embodiment, at least).

No, he was just a guy with a high midichlorian count. He retained his identity in the Force due to the assistance of Obi-Wan and Yoda who had already done so ( ROTJ commentary ).

It's supported by dialogue in TPM and ROTJ, but perhaps not in the way that you think.

Really? Huh, interesting. It's been ages since I last watched my Star Wars DVDs, so I don't really remember the commentary. So when he died, Obi-Wan and Yoda reached out to him and helped him retain his identity in the Force?

This all about Lucas' obsession with SFX technology. He has to have best for his movies, he just can't leave it alone. He was never happy with the effects in the original Star Wars so he keeps updating and updating in some kind of crazy race with his ideal of perfection.

I know one day he will have the technology to completely re-do all the films and he will spend millions and years doing it.

One English guy named Adywan is doing that on his own, and the results are pretty amazing.
I remember watching that, it was incredibly impressive. I wish I'd held on to my copy. :(

Hopefully he'll finish TESB:R soon. And I just read that a fan actually purchased parts for a new computer so Adywan could do ROTJ:R in 1080p!

^ Well, you may be able to find download links at fanedit.info ... but I haven't said anything. I haven't said a word. :p

There's also a Purist edition, whose most noticeable change is removing the Imperial March and Battle of the Heroes sound cues. Those links are harder to find, but if you PM me, I definitely, absolutely, would not be able to help you out, not one bit. ;)

As for editing Jedi in 1080p... so long as the source dvd quality is normal, I'm not sure I see the point...

Sigh:rolleyes:..totally unnecessary re-release.
Lucas just wants to make more money:vulcan:
This 3D-boom is somehow getting on my nerves:confused:..

I think it is cool. Only time will tell if it does make money, but it is something that I will contemplate going to see personally.
