Yahtzee's Zero Punctuation Reviews

Anyone else a fan of Yahtzee's game reviews? Basically, the general concept is that he reviews a game, usually criticizing the hell out of it, while talking fast and making lots of snappy comments.

This week, he discusses why all the games hyped at E3 will suck

Thoughts?

I love his stuff! (except of course when he rips on a game I like) :) LOL quite frequently at his comments.

I thought this week's was especially funny. I don't know why, but reducing each game to one line fits his fast-paced style.

One of my students recommended me to ZP. I usually pretty wary on what 17 year olds recommend me (for obvious reasons), but I decided to give this a try. I have to admit it cracks me up. Even if I disagree with his review, it still makes me laugh.

I did tell that student that the language was inappropriate for someone his age.

It's pretty good, I think I've decided that I prefer AVGN, but they focus on different things.

Another plus for ZP is you can count on a new episode every Wednesday, whereas AVGN... not so much.

The man's a legend. Pretty much took Charlie Brooker's ball and ran with it, and developed his own style which is equally as good.

I particularly enjoy his reviews if it's a game I've played. Unfortunately, the last one of those reviews was back in December for Left 4 Dead. :alienblush:

I used to love his reviews but I grew tired of him around about the time he started using that theme tune. His early reviews were amazing, but after a while he just began to repeat himself.

"... and that brings me to Nintendo! Oh, hello there, Nintendo! I almost didn't recognise you there with all of that casual-gamer semen crusting around your mouth."

And didn't he predict that the theme tune would mark the moment when fans would say he jumped the shark...?

I used to enjoy his reviews quite a bit, especially when I had quite a few past reviews to catch up on, but lately I find myself not enjoying them as much anymore.
Partially it's because it's been ages since he reviewed a game I had any interest in playing. Some of that is obviously due to the fact that I've never got into console gaming (aside from owning an NES when I was in elementary school).

Mostly, my reaction these days is: "Eh, yet another game he rips apart that I've never heard of and will never play." After a while, that gets boring.
