1) The Prime Timeline - I get the longing for the Prime Timeline, I get the nostalgia. The problem, I see with setting a new series within the scope of the prime timeline, well, is the same problem JJ faced, is that, with some 524 hours of produced Trek, you have a very well fleshed out universe, that was based on how we saw the future in the 1960s. By going back to he prime timeline, your handcuffing yourself to a continuity, that you don't need to. I don't know that the Timeline presented in the JJ films is necessarily the right timeline either maybe some hybrid timeline, but Keep it simple....
2) New Ship, New Crew - This one I have a hard time with. To me Star Trek is the Enterprise. I can get past the crew, But I can't imagine another ship.
3) Bring back aboard some familiar behind the scenes talent - This one I am mixed about. I don't want to see a rehash of 90's trek designs. LCARS was cool when touch panels were just off in the the distance, but now we are past touch screens, and looking at what the next interface will be. That Said, RDM would be an asset to any new production but, I would limit the "familiar behind the scenes talent" to those responsible from a story perspective.
4) See what the fans are up to - No... just no...
5) Get your Serial on - I think this is a given. Episodic TV has gone the way of the dinosaurs, especially when it comes to dramas. What happens in episode 1 should have ramifications for Epsiode 2, 3, 4 and so on. If the ship is damaged in one episode, it should carry over through subsequent episodes as we see repair efforts and such.. So in this way we an serialize the story telling, while still maintaining the ability to tell the occasional stand alone story.
