Okay..time to make the big prediction..yeah I know some of you will reply with "we can't predict such a thing"..sure we can..we do this sort of thing all time...

Where will Trek finish, in terms of box office, against Harry Potter...Wolverine...Angels/Demons...Terminator 4...Star Trek XI

Rob

This is the first time I have seen a thread like this, so I will just say I think the only movie that Trek has no possibility of beating is Potter

I actually doubt Wolverine or Angels and Demons will be much of a challenge for Trek. But it's definately going to lose the number 1 spot to Terminator or Harry Potter.

And I say this as someone looking forward to Wolverine, and hates Harry Potter.

What is the question, specifically? Just opening weekend, or the whole deal? The latter really is impossible to predict unless you've seen the movies. The overall revenue is based mostly on the quality of the product(go figure), which determines "word of mouth" and repeat viewers. Any of these movies could end up being pieces of shit, or actually really good. As far as opening weekend; TF2 > HP > Trek > Wolverine > A&D

I'm not really sure why people keep throwing Angels & Demons into the mix while ignoring Monsters Vs. Aliens and Ice Age 3, both of which are likely to make more. Hell, Night at the Museum 2 may even make more than A&D.

I think Potter is the only one Trek definitely won't beat. I can't stand Potter and I hate saying so. Just being realistic.

People seem to be sort of "meh" over Angels and Demons. The last X-Men and Terminator movies weren't well recieved, so that might hurt them. Of course the last Star Trek movie was even more poorly received, so you never know.

Will a new Potter movie open in May as well? When?

In which timeline? Spock saw encouraging figures for STXI when he checked the historical records before jumping back in time, but since he changed history and created a new timeline, . . .

:vulcan:

The only one I can say with confidence that Trek will beat is Angels and Demons. Wolverine is a popular character so an entire movie dedicated to him will probably do great. harry Potter is unstoppable and Terminator has consistently done well.

As for me, Ill probably see Trek, Terminator and Wolverine and wind up getting forced into watching Harry Potter by my girlfriend, so they will all make cash off of me lol

Just to throw the dates out there:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ... July 17.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine ... May 1.
Star Trek XI ... May 8.
Angels and Demons ... May 15.
Terminator Salvation ... May 22.

There's no possibility that Trek XI will beat Harry Potter, so I'd have to say that movie gets top slot. I think Angels and Demons will be last on the list. Wolverine and Star Trek will probably fight over spots 2 and 3 and I bet Terminator will be fourth.

That's what the crystal ball I keep in my desk drawer tells me.

And Blaxxer's friend...Trekker guy..another well known sour puss on this site..

There's no need for that. In fact trekkerguy is usually very positive on this board, and you know it.

Thank you for spelling my name correctly. :)

I feel Trek will do well among the competition, everything I've heard from
non-fans has been very positive and as long as it stays that way it'll be a
hit, which movies it will beat I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see.

But due to bias I voted that it would blow the others out of the water.

X-Men: The Last Stand was the most successful X-Men movie, even though fans and critics hated it.

I loved it ;)

Screw these vague prediction threads. I want to see exact predictions, down to the dollar, of how much these movies will make. Preferably, these predictions should be broken down into foreign and domestic categories, and then further broken down into exact dollar values from each theater, and exactly how much each of these films will make at those respective theaters, per day.

Let's see if you guys have the balls to be so bold!
