So, since getting my new used Xbox One S, I've seen this advertisement offering the Game Pass, either a free two week trial or a month for a dollar. Today, there was a new promotion, three months for a dollar.

Anyone here use it? Just what is it? How does it work? Would it be worth the ten bucks a month after the trial?

    It's fantastic value.

10 bucks a month gets you all first party titles day of release, plus the first party backlog and a lot of third party games. Also, there are usually discounts available, so I never once paid the full 10 bucks.

If you own both an Xbox One of any kind (regular, S, X) and a gaming PC, it's even better value since Game Pass is part of Microsoft's Play Anywhere initiative.

Money wise it's a good deal though remember you need XBox Live Gold so that's an addition in the price (one that's going up). I pay for it but don't use it much but only because i'm currently in a lull with regards to my gaming habits.

The library will only get bigger and you also get 1st party games Day One.

Spent the dollar, got the game pass.

So, how does it work? Just click "Install" to borrow the game, and "Buy to Own" to keep it?

Install - buy to own is used for games you want to own independently from any subscription.

You only need gold if you want to play online, so you can still grab the game pass deal of £3 for 3 month and play all the games single player content, which are almost all games on game pass, Pray, Crackdown 3, Gears , bioshock, dead rising, Batman, and the list goes on, 250 games......that 3 quid for 3 months is a steal.

Gold is still separate, but there is now a bundled offer that includes both at a nominal price advantage

(the advantage isn't great compared to some of the deals available when you're buying them separately though)

    So we now have..

    PC pass
    Xbox Pass
Ultimate Pass (PC + XBOX + GOLD)

I think M/S had a strong E3 Presentation this year (helped by the lack of Sony) and I love the new pass options. I've already subbed to the Ultimate Edition. £1 for the first month and then £11.99 after that is worth the deal IMO.

Already had a friend sub to the PC Pass for £3.99 (is it?) because we have been playing the hell out of Sea of Thieves on the PC.
