My biggest problem with the movie is all the times I hear people calling it a summer movie. Summer is over a month away.

Summer movie season starts in May. (More recently the first weekend in May, in the past on Mermorial day (the first day of Summer for cookouts and such.)

It's always been that way.

It's the Summer movie season because of the special "theme" the movies have throughout the bulk of the Summer.

Don't be pedantic.

No, summer starts June 22. No movie that comes out more than a month before summer should be called a summer movie.

I could not help but think of the old couple with the farm as being like the Kent family.
Same here. You can't help but wonder if it was intentional, or at least I can't.

You're just assuming that, though. It would have been nice if the filmmakers actually, y'know, showed that, or told us.

He was going by the name Logan long before he met Silver Fox. Back when he was with Stryker's team in Africa, everybody on-screen called him Logan. It was hardly a secret. Sabertooth was the only one who continued to call him Jimmy.

Think about it. Serving in war after war after war, would someone who is virtually immortal actually keep the name James Howlett through the decades? I imagine he went by any number of names.

Okay, but never once is it mentioned or shown why he goes by the name of Logan and when.
It would be nice had there been a reason for Logan. I'm not familar with where Logan comes from myself and I've read comics for 20+yrs. Maybe Wiki has that answer. They do afterall give us an instory reason for 'Wolverine' which shows that had they wanted to, they still could at some point I suppose, they could've done likewise for 'Logan'.

Regardless.

The "Summer Movie Season" has always started in May and has ran through August.

That's what meant by "Summer Movie" not that "it's a movie that came out in the Summer" but that's a "movie that came out in the Summer Movie Season" which has always been from mid-May through August. (Movies that come out in September are part of the Fall Movie Season although Summer doesn't end until September 21/22 (though meteorlogical autumn beigns Septmenber 1.)

Saying a movie that comes out in May isn't a "Summer Movie" because of Summer "not starting until June 21/22" is being pedantic.

It has always been this way. Are you just now discovering it?

Not true. They used to pay attention to the calender. This movie won't even be in theaters when summer rolls around. It shouldn't be called a summer movie.

The summer movie season has fluxed with how a majority of schools are in session.
There was a time when the 'traditional movie season' was Memorial Day thru Labor Day.
Now some schools(H.S.), let alone University, are out by 1st/2nd week of May and back in school 1st week of August(pre-Labor Day). Hollywood is just trying to stay with the cash flow.

This "argument" is just silly and a waste of further key strokes.

I'm going to go talk to my living room wall. I think I'll get further.

I've copies of EW Magazine from the mid 1990s in storage somewhere. EW Magazine, every year, runs a "Summer Movie Preview."

Every "Summer Movie Preview" issue contains information on movies released in May.

Though "not really" it is part of the Summer Movie Season.

A season of big-budget, big effects, big-name action stars, popcorn entertainment movies the bulk of which play over the Summer. It has always been this way, atleast through the more modern era of movies.

Do a Google search on "Summer Movie Season" you'll get hits for XMO:W being the one that's kicking it off this year.

It's called the Summer Movie Season because most of it takes place in the Summer!

You're being pedantic and obtuse.

Baseball players are also often called "the boys of Summer."

But GASP! How can that be??!?!?! They also play in the SPRING AND FALL!!!

Oh noes! That conflicts with when the calendar, and the suns says Summer really starts!

My world is collapsing!

Please.

It's a marketing thing. It's not shifting when the Earth gets to its apogee.

Summer Movie Season begins the first weekend in May (it used to be Mermorial Day.) Period.

SUMMER starts June 21/22.

Summer MOVIE SEASON begins the first weekend in May.

SUMMER starts June 21/22.

Summer MOVIE SEASON begins the first weekend in May.

SUMMER starts June 21/22.

Summer MOVIE SEASON begins the first weekend in May.

Get my point?

They were making movies before the 90s
Even before Entertainment Weekly printed their first issue. Your copies of Entertainment Weekly are WRONG.

A movie that is no longer in theaters when summer starts is not a summer movie.

Ok.

I'm going to go talk to my wall now.

Good luck getting the entire fucking industry to change when the "Summer Movie Season" begins.

Sorry Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Wolverine, Star Wars movies, and every fucking movie that's been called a "Summer Movie", but was released in May or early June, for the last 20 or 30 or even 40 years you're not Summer movies.

You're Spring Movies. You're part of the crap that studios slough off after the Winter Awards Contendors and before their cash-cow big-budget movies.

I wanna' see Volverine.

"Volverine...this was one Volvo with a mysterious past, and no one could stop it from finding the truth!"

I'm just going to say that, to me, summer has a lot more to do with weather than it has to do with the dates on the calendar. If I have to turn on my air conditioner, it's summer.

The Spill had the best take on this movie. It's basically a lame Steven Seagal/Van Dame revenge action movie with super powers. Bad dialogue and all. This is Universal Soldier with mutants. The thing is, those other movies are supposed to be bad.

I also like what they also pointed out. Vic and Logan really are a bunch of dumb, backwoods, hillbilly white trash retards. Why? Because with over a hundred years worth of combat expertise they can never get over the rank of Private.

^Presumably, because they kept leaving the military and reenlisting under false names to cover for their age. Wolverine was a child in 1845, after all.

Not really great. I mean it felt like they were rushing through most of the movie to get somewhere and never get there.

BTW Gambit is how old? The time line in this movie is totally whacked. He has to be in his 40s-50s by X-Men 1...Xavier was walking in the 60s and possibly 70s and this looks like it takes place in the 70s...Or did they throw the time line out.

Give it a rest, Trekker4747 is correct as is EW and every other entertainment source.

It had a few entertaining moments but really the whole thing was just pure screenwriting laziness beginning to end. It took everything bad about comic books and crammed it into this movie.

True, but I would still pay to see Liv & Renoyds reprise their roles if asked to do a sequel.

Will.i.am should nevernevernevernever take an acting job in anything ever again. He even sucks as a rapper too.

You said it. What makes me even more angry is Oscar Movie Season clearly falls outside of the months of Oscar.
