X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

I still kinda wish they'd just bitten the bullet and made this a full-blown reboot
As do I (of all the franchise in the world, the X-Men is the one that needed it most) but if they'd rebooted there's no way it'd be set in the 60s which is easily the coolest aspect of this movie.

I've seen insurance commercials, maybe it was Farmers Insurance or State Farm in conjunction with X:FC.

I'm avoiding those clips like the plague, trying to go in spoiler free from here on out.

And please, don't sully this movie with 3D conversion shenanigans.

Really? I distinctly remember you opposing the reboot idea. You said something to the effect of moving onwards to X4 and that we should deal with the death of Scott, Jean & Charles. And that remakes and reboots are the scourge of Hollywood today (which i agree with, they are in most cases). I guess you've come around?

This was a while and not in this thread, but one of the many other X:FC threads that came around way before they even started production. Ring a bell? In any case glad you've come around.

When will it be time to post the Grading and Discussion thread? We could still very well reach 150 pages before then!
Just out of unwritten protocol Obi should be given first crack to start that thread imo. Probably in the next 4-5 days unless it's opening internationally sooner like Thor did.

^ This line reminds of kids at Christmas Eve..."Mom...when can we open presents?" "Not until tomorrow morning dear." LOL. That was funny.

Haha its up for grabs. I don't care. Anybody can start it, thanks though!

In general, yes, I am opposed to reboots but it's mind boggling that every franchise under the sun is getting rebooted EXCEPT for this one which is more of a mess than any of the others.

I think we should wait until the week of the movie's release before starting up a Grading/Discussion thread. Maybe one week from today or tomorrow?

Ooo, good point.

Yes there are some spoilers in the B roll footage out on Trailer Addict. It will at least, make some die hards happy! But it all does look so dang cool! :)

I don't care who starts the new thread, I just want all the folks who were in this one skipping around and complaining to be sure to be in the new thread taking back all the bad they said. :)

Really? I honestly don't think it needs a reboot. Just because X3 was a middling film and XO:W was terrible, doesn't mean that they have to start over from scratch. The series is nowhere near being creatively bankrupt where a reboot is needed.

I had the same thought about Spiderman.
Keep other core cast, like Simmons, and keep moving forward. There is too much Spiderman out there to adapt and play with to waste any amount of time rehashing an origin.

Except in the case of the Spider-Man franchise the director and studio couldn't agree on what direction to take the movie after the third one was a critical failure (notice I say critical failure, I know it made a lot of money).

X4 is still in play as has been mentioned before. There hasn't been any real updates on the project since last August. I think Fox is still keen on Bryan directing an X-Men movie once he is finished "Jack the Giant Killer", IIRC Singer has stated that he would be interested in directing another X-Men film. Of course he almost directed this movie.

I thought it was needed for Spider-man. Although I don't think the origin story was needed. Should have went the Incredible Hulk route and assume the audience already knows the schtick and just move on.

All kinds of clips, photos, designs, interviews, videos, and crazy magic is everywhere now. It is tough to keep up now. I'm amazed they literally waited until the week before to blow all their promotional push, and there still is no merchandising!

I'll probably see this next Friday afternoon. I'm not going to any nighttime shows with crazy kids.
