We know so little at this point. No way of knowing what we will see or not see.
I think it would kind of tough to do that since he's the one going back in time. Unless right after he goes back a Sentinel destroys his future body... which would be sorta lame. Or maybe past Logan gets it? But that would cause a time paradox that would really fuck shit up. I really wanted the comic scene played out and I don't see how they can do it. i certainly hope I'm wrong.

In the DOFP comic, future Kitty traveled through time by exchanging bodies with her past self.
Not a big surprise but a disappointment for those of us hoping he might appear. James Marsden confirms no DOFP for him:

He has turned out to be a really versatile actor. He is great in comedies. I hope he returns at some point.

I think him and Rebecca Romijn are possible given that younger versions of their characters are in the film. In some way Beast and Mystique's fate in the future will be addressed. But both have the same problem, will they want to spend all that time in make up for a small amount of screen time? Which also raises budget issues. Interesting how all the major characters in makeup are blue! Them along with Nightcrawler.
It seems like James Marsden is being genuine. But he would be the easiest last minute addition for a cameo at the end. Similar to how Xavier was shown to be alive at the end of The Wolverine. No makeup, all he would need to do is wear his costume and visor. Heck he would not even need that. Could be civilian clothes with the glasses.

I would've expected a Marsden return (Cyclops' death in X3 notwithstanding) before a Grammer one because Singer cast Marsden but Grammer was cast by either Matthew Vaughn (when he was attached to X3) or Ratner (can't remember who).
Marsden's role in TLS was cut short in part because he went off to do Superman Returns with Singer, so I hope that Singer will perhaps in a future film repay him for that.

How many films has Matthew Vaughn dropped out of directing? It seems he is willing to move on whenever a better offer comes along. Does not commit often to projects he is signed on for. His wife should be suspicious if he is talking to other women. 
He wants to fix things if the film works? So it's all dependent on how DOFP does, and the "fixing" won't happen in DOFP itself?
I guess Marsden really was just coincidentally sitting next to Halle on the plane...
