Hurrah! This news really excites me, honestly.
Seems unlikely they'll have Kitty playing the central role she did in the original story since she wasn't the focal character in the first three movies; but then, I think she was a pretty small character back then, too?

DoFP was in issues 141-142 of Uncanny X-Men. Kitty arrived at the school at the end of of 138. The first issue to focus on her was 143.
HOWEVER, the adult Kitty from the future, who travelled back in time and inhabited young Kitty's body, was a MAJOR part of DoFP.
Wasn't Rogue de-powered and human at the end of the unmentionable movie that apparently isn't being ignored?
Anyway, I'm glad to see all the familiar faces returning.

No better way to ignore said movie than to give her her powers back, and for no stated reason!

It looks like Rose Byrne won't be back. While I did like her in the movie, I do agree with the article that she had a pretty satisfactory arc in FC, and doesn't really need to come back. Honestly, with so many past major characters coming back, it makes sense that they would exorcise some of the secondary characters from FC.
Saw this earlier today!! Awesome news---kinda, it means Last Stand is in place.
But it also means they have the power to undo it.
This has always been my theory.

I would like Emma Frost to appear, if only for it to flow thematically. Would be kinda weird how the last scene of FC is Magneto rescuing her and taking her into his gang, and then in the sequel she's not even in it.

And imagine if all the Marvel universe were under one movie roof, as in the comic you could include all the big superheroes being iced by the Sentinels- Spidey, Iron Man, Cap, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, etcThis is going to be epic. I'm not really familiar with the comics, but are they that strong to kill the Hulk, capt America etc?
True. It's been a long time since I saw the end of the unmentionable movie, but based on the novelization, it would seem the cure was only temporary (based on Magneto playing chess). If the same was true for Rogue, it wouldn't be too long before she was back to the status quo.
