X-Files Revival Officially Ordered at Fox

They DO NOT like being called by their first names. Heck I find it far more intimate than them using 'Fox and Dana' tbh.
Bizarre. Well then, I'd like a source where they expressed that mutual wish, between just the two of them, in the show. e.g., "Just between us, let's just continue to use our last names with each other - it's so much more intimate."

In the first season, Mulder says that even his family doesn't call him "Fox."

In real life, a friend of mine with the last name Barnes is called Barney by everyone, including his wife of 40 years. Another friend goes by his last name exclusively to the point that -- on his wedding day -- his bride called him "Dyke" as she recited her vows to him. Some people just prefer their last name, even with intimate partners.

Gillian's aged better than David.
She's had some work done.

Well then, I'd like a source proving "she's had some work done."

They've expressed on multiple occasions throughout the show that they don't like being called by their first names. I can't think of specific episodes, but I know it's happened.

Like when Scully's mom says "Fox" and Scully corrects her, "Not Fox. Mulder."

There's another scene later on (I think when Scully has cancer) where Mulder comes in and says "Dana" and Scully kind of scoffs and says, "Dana?" under her breath.

Don't forget, Dearest Dana... :D

Wasn't a huge fan of the whole first name thing though tbh, it just seemed rather odd for some reason.

Exactly. Different strokes, for different folks. Nothing wrong with that :).

Bravo, well said.

I admit I stopped watching BONES ages ago, but didn't they routinely refer to each other as "Bones" and "Booth" or whatever?

And what about the couple on CASTLE? I seem to recall that they refer to each other as "Castle" and "Beckett" most of the time.

"What on Earth do you think you're doing, Castle?"

But if we're talking intimacy, maybe Scully and Mulder only use "Dana" and "Fox" in their most intimate moments?

Kind of like the way Spock only calls Kirk "Jim" under extreme circumstances. :)

Greg, while I agree with your post, that was a bad
segue between those last two sentences.

I've started rewatching the original series and so far I'm eight episodes into the first season.

They hit the ground running with this show and the character chemistry is there pretty much from the get-go. The writing is also solid.

I'm find it amusing when I see myself getting pissed when seeing the ignorant behaviour of other FBI agents when interacting with Mulder and Scully as well as the heavy handed behaviour of the faceless/nameless government types.

Excellent news!

An appearance by Reyes -- at the very least -- acknowledges the the final two Mulder-lite seasons, even without Doggett.

With the exception of Doggett and the addition of Reyes, I can't honestly think of any other character I'd really want to see in the revival that hasn't already been confirmed as appearing.

Any other characters/actors any of you are dying to see that haven't officially been announced? A Laurie Holden cameo or Senator Matheson appearing on the Joel McHale character's show?

I'll go with the clone speculation for now, but I really, really, doubt it.

Alien Rebel Shapeshifter?

Jeremiah Smith?!

Really! Cancer man got killed at least 3 times I remember and we don't know if any of them were him, really with Brian Thompson running around.

Actually, I hope he is in it, even for a moment, I like Brian Thompson.

Gibson Praise is just about the only other recurring character they haven't mentioned yet.

Maybe Kersh and Follmer, but this thing seems like it's got a lot of characters for only 6 episodes already.

I hope the first episode isn't Scully waking up in a motel room and Mulder is in the shower and they're still in the pilot episode and everything was a dream.

I thought of one more character, but I don't think he would be a good fit, but I'd like to see more Frank Black.

Kersh would make a nice name-drop or cameo.

I'm always up for more Frank Black.

As for Gibson:

They're doing some interesting things with him in the comics.

I think Brad Follmer was killed (though, so were the Lone Gunmen...)

Ugh , that would be a nightmare. But you gave me an idea ... maybe that'll happen only... she'll go and visit Mulder in the shower ;).

Some info on the second episode:
I’ve learned that the second hour of The X-Files‘ six-episode revival — the Glen Morgan written/directed “Home Again” — will pick up several months after the events of the premiere, and word on the streets of Vancouver is that the installment (featuring, as I previously reported, a Monster of the Week called “Band-Aid Nose Man“) is absolutely brutal. Some are already dubbing it one of the most violent X-eps in history
