X-Files Revival Officially Ordered at Fox

It's now a spoiler because they have been dead for 10 years.

I doubt they will even touch the alien stuff mainly because no one really cares / understands what the hell happened at the end. Just better to do monsters of a week.

In an interview with the New York Times, David Duchovny says that although he doesn't know anything specific, he believes that the series will at least begin and end with the mythology.
I hope they do something like that. Even if they don't devote the whole mini-series/season to it, I'd like to see them deal with it in some manner.

Apologies if this has already been psoted. I copied this from another forum I post at:

Chris Carter commented on his Fox miniseries, “We’re going to tell X-Files the way that we’ve always told them; we will of course set them in the time and place that they exist. We’re telling contemporary stories about contemporary situations, true to Mulder and Scully’s characters and their relationship and the passage of time.” Carter added that former writer/producers are returning, "We’ve lured Darin (Glen) Morgan and Jim Wong, we’re very excited about that and we’re working on the rest.”

He said about the original series' 2012 colonization and Scully giving her child away, "I've thought about that. I don't know exactly how I'm going to address it, in a big way, a mild way, a modern way, a mention or a plot point. And of course you can't avoid to deal with the William (arc) in some way or another."

I hope all episodes are tied to a greater overarching theme while also providing us with a couple of MOTW's that also connects together. I think a good example of how to pull this off is to look to True Detective. True Detective had an almost X-Files feel with the occult aspect it had. True Detective also had a mysterious element to it and it showed the passage of time very well. The more I think of it, True Detective is a perfect model for how to approach this.

CGB Spender and Flukeman have a conspiracy to get Mulder and Scully. What you think being blown up by missles can stop him!

Do you think they'll reuse the old theme song as is? Revamp it maybe? Or even come up with something *gasp* new?
I wouldn't be opposed to a new theme as long as it was really good, but how does one improve on (near) perfection? The X-Files theme is as iconic and well known as the Twilight Zone's. If you drop it, you'd better have something just as good or risk the wroth of angry mobs.

I'd hope they keep the original, personally. Music helps set the tone for a series, and I'd agree it would be hard to make the original series intro more perfect than it already is.

Cool!

I was saying this in another thread when it wasn't greenlighted yet, but what if the whole thing is a flashback?

Episode 1 could start with a time/date in the corner from any time.

It might be going back and forth. Kind of like last night's SHIELD episode.

Skinner and CSM to return.

Skinner, yay! CSM? Really? I hope it's a flashback.

That's how I feel about it as well. CSM was obliterated in the last episode. So it would either have to be that or some sort of clone.

Skinner FTW! :)

No thanks. I'll pass on that. Lived through it via the old episodes.

I don't mind the occasional flashback, but I rather have most of the episodes take place in present time.

Me, too actually.

Although I would like to see a close up of the old plot. Maybe they just had the date wrong?

CSM showed up in the recent comic series, but I think it was implied he's a clone or something (Not sure as I haven't read most of the series.) Of course the new series is free to ignore those comics as with any franchise.

Actually a clone might make sense, as there were several alien clones of Mulder's sister if I remember correctly-with CSM and the syndicate being linked to them as well on many ocassions. Maybe the CSM who died in the finale was a clone too or something.

DD is in good shape but it would sad stuff to try and get him to pretend to be 33 again...

Yea it would be. And he even mentioned about that in a recent interview. It wouldn't make sense to have either character tbh have to act that way.

That's one negative imo of the comics. They seem to be going that route :(.

I'll take M & S present tense thank you. Along with some . If Chris has any guts :p. I kid, but I'm curious given what we got in IWTB, what would happen next.

As long as it isn't going backwards. No breakups, melodrama wanted.

Just M & S solving cases, with some flirting in between, and some raining sleeping bags .

I'm really happy to hear Skinner and CSM are coming back, to me they are just as much a part of the X-Files and Mulder and Scully. It will be interesting to see exactly what they are doing with CSM.
