X-Files Revival Officially Ordered at Fox

I know they'll probably focus on the mythology in some way, which is great, but some of my favorite episodes were standalone "Monster Of The Week" eps. Either way, it'll be great to see Mulder and Scully (and hopefully Skinner) again.
The monster-of-the-week episodes were generally my favourites.

Remember when Mulder and Scully had a baby and the baby was Jesus or something? Will that be in it?

Oh God, I forgot about that. The show really had gone of the rails by that point.

It will be interesting what new stories Carter will come up with. If it's a rehash of the alien conspiarcy shit I think it will fail. all they need to do is look to the breif return of Jack Bauer in London 24 for how flat a re-mix of the same-old same-old turns out.

Do you think they'll reuse the old theme song as is? Revamp it maybe? Or even come up with something *gasp* new?

I honestly don't remember much of what happened in the later seasons and I never saw the movies (apparently I'm not alone seeing as how the last one performed awfully). Would the general consensus be that it's better on TV? I'd hate to think that it returns and is only mediocre. It would be nice if it came back like a phoenix, proving that not all dead shows stay that way, but maybe my hopes are too high there.

I'm really excited about this. This started as a joke on The Nerdist podcast with Gillian Anderson that got out of control really quickly with the fan support. I didn't like I Want To Believe on first watch, but I've grown to enjoy it. I'm interested in seeing if this is going to be 6 individual cases or something related to aliens.

From Carter's comments, it sounds like it will be myth-based but there will be a few MOTW entries.

Definitely. I HOPE that they don't revisit that bucket of worms again. :scream:

I thought 24: Live Another Day was big success that most people liked? I really enjoyed it.
Pretty excited for this. I haven't seen every episode of the original show, but I do enjoy. Now I have an excuse to finally go back to the complete series set I never finished.

I sure hope Skinner is around. I don't know if six episodes is enough for Doggett and Reyes to show up.

They aren't in the "official" comic season ten

I didn't like the 2nd movie at all.

However, the 1st movie was solid. That's the one that they did between Seasons 5 & 6. Frankly, it's the only time that I felt like I ever really understood the show's alien mythology. Once the show started again, I was totally lost again.

I really liked the last couple seasons, mostly because of my deep abiding love for John Doggett (and just about anything else that Robert Patrick decides to do with his time). I could take or leave Reyes but I really hope Doggett gets involved somehow.

Watching it as it aired, the mythology got pretty hard to follow. However, I recently rewatched the show on Netflix and found that the mythology actually made a lot of sense when you're able to see it play out in a shorter time span. Even the weirder stuff that happened later managed to remain a logical extension of what came before, even though the first time around it just seemed kinda dumb.

Itll be interesting to see where they pick things up at with Mulder not being with the FBI anymore. I am looking forward to seeing this miiseries it's a shme though the series dumped so many characters, but maybe Dogett and Rayes will return.

After so much time, I'm really just interested to see where Mulder and Scully are now and what situation is going to bring them back into the fold. They seemed pretty content living off the radar last we saw them.
