Actually, the EW article accompanying the cover reveal mentions that the TV episode "Home Again" isn't a "Home" sequel. That EW cover is pretty great. I love that we're months away from the revival's broadcast and the build-up is significant enough to garner Entertainment Weekly's cover.
As I was looking through the Previews catalog for September last night, I came across the IDW section and here's what it had for that month's X-Files solicitation:
X-FILES: SEASON 11, #2
"Home Again," Part 1 of 2: Despite his fugitive status, Mulder continues to investigate X-Files along the highways and byways of America. His latest stop is a secluded farm, which he soon discovers to be the new home of the infamous Peacock family!
This blurb sounds extremely similar to the rumored story for the revival's second episode -- even the titles are identical, "Home Again." Yikes.
Presumably this issue and its contents have already been cleared by the Fox licensing department, but I have to wonder if this story (as solicited) will ever see print. If it does make it to press, it'll be interesting to compare the two versions of a "Home" sequel.
Have to admit, it is pretty cool seeing so much hype and excitement over X-Files again, especially after the way the second movie bombed in theaters and it seemed like audiences had completely lost all interest.
But I guess enough time has passed that people are actually able to get excited about the idea again.

Ah, rumor debunked!
Thanks for the correction, Brendan Moody.
As for the film I Want to Believe, I quite liked it. It was more Scully-centric than Fight the Future and whereas FtF focused on the mythology of the show, IWtB definitely catered to the 'shipper crowd. Taken as a pair, the two movies provide a nice balance for one another.
Also, it's sort of fitting that one of the movies is a mythology story and the other is a monster-of-the-week-type case.
I absolutely love the post-credits scene, with Mulder and Scully on the boat. When I believed that was the ultimate and final screen appearance of those two characters, I thought that it was nice that -- at the very least -- we got a sorta-happy/sorta-hopeful ending for their story.
Hopefully the revival leaves them in a somewhat positive place in their lives, as well.
Wait, why is Mulder a fugitive? I thought the second film, I Want to Believe, had the F.B.I. clearing him and letting him back in to investigate the case in the film.
Was there new footage in there? That all looked like old footage to me.
Yeah, the last scene looked new to me, too. Scully's hair not only looked different, but she also looked older (as she does today) than when we last saw he in the second film and the series. Was there new footage in there? That all looked like old footage to me.
The very last scene looked new to me. Scully had different hair. Otherwise it was all old stuff.

"The truth is in there."
According to that promo, 201 days to go...
