WWSD? Sisko in the Delta Quad.

Sisko could punk......

ass all ovuh the Nis-trum

No doubt. They wouldn't have stood a chance.

If he could get over his irrational (but understandable) anger at Picard (for something that wasn't even Picard's fault), then he can get over it for someone who was just another Borg victim and wasn't even THERE at Wolf 359.

Did he ever get over it?

I always thought that was something that could have been explored in later DS9 seasons.

While Sisko was a bit more willing to 'bend the rules', I really don't think he would have condemned the Ocampa to destruction at the hands of the Kazon. Like Indolover said, he wasn't an 'ogre.' He wasn't even unprincipled, he just didn't always know what his principles were and had a tendency to leap without looking. He was also a lot more obsessive than Janeway and more stubborn. It's hard to say what he would do.
I think the whole 'point' of Sisko's character was that just being a Starfleet officer doesn't make you a perfect, completely innocent superhuman who never makes mistakes. Sisko followed his gut instead of Starfleet guidelines and I think that made him more interesting as a character.
Speaking of Seven, I think Sisko would be a lot harsher towards the Borg than Janeway was, including his treatment of Seven. But I think he would eventually see her as a victim. And Sisko would definitely NOT have made a deal with the Borg to fight the 8472.

Sisko was a builder. He helped design the Defiant. When he was going to leave Starfleet he was going to build orbital habitats. He came to DS9 and it was an empty shell above a planet in chaos. We built what it became through his actions. Sisko was a builder in contrast to Picard and Janeway being very much explorers.

If Commander Sisko had decided to uncharacteristically destroy the array I think the real question is whether or not he would be like "Well Ocampa, hope it all works out for ya now" and then zoom off toward the alpha quadrant or if he would stay and help. If you eliminate the prophet portion of his story and just go with his background I think there are way too many opportunities in the Delta Quadrant for Sisko, personally, to build and help.

He wouldn't have gotten as far as season 4 Janeway. He would long since have found a place to stay and start building (whether the crew chose to stay or not.)

I dunno...if we're talking 1st-season Sisko, maybe. But Pale Moonlight Sisko? No way. Especially not if the Dominion War was starting to brew.

Though he MIGHT try to find a third solution, one where he could save the Ocampa AND harness the Caretaker array...

You mean easily solvable problem of have timed explosives go off after you leave?

Oh, boy. How come I never thought of that? Guess I'm as dumb as the writers. :) Plotholes are okay, but that's just stupid. Sheesh, that's gonna drive me crazy every time I think of VOY now...

In the time it took them to set timed explosives and figure out how to get the Array to send them home, they'd be under non-stop attack from the Kazon. They didn't have the time to set timed explosives and get the Array to work. And plus using the Array wasn't that workable in the first place since being brought to the DQ damaged the ship and killed half the crew. Going back would do the same.

I don't think so. Now, it's been a while since I saw Caretaker, but if I recall correctly, Janeway and Tuvok WERE considering using it. This means that either the risk was worth it to them or they had a way around the mass death thing.

As for Sisko, I'm not sure what he'd have done. Part of me wants to say "Pffft, he'd have everyone home in time for cake and raktajino.", but I dunno. I guess it'd depend on his interactions with the Ocampa and if he let our illustrious alien hobo onboard like Janeway did.

He'd probably end up staying at the Ocampa homeworld afterwards and maybe totally liberate it from the Kazon slavers, since the Defiant (if he even had that) isn't meant for deep space missions. From there, I don't know.

Of course, the Kazon might have figured out how to disarm them...although they were the Kazon, not the brightest lights in the harbor.

This is irrelevant since the wormhole aliens wouldn't let this happen as his destiny and fate are sealed.
