wwe vs tnt anyone watching?

Post-1980's - WWE has done a lame job with heels. Fair enough, it was a different era where kayfabe was alive and well and the likes of Roddy Piper were villified to the point that people would try and attack them in public. The point is, the WWE doesn't seem to have evolved so much with their mentality in creating heel characters.

Many of their heel characters follow a similar pattern modeled after the 1980's heels. The trouble is that in an era where kayfabe is redundant, the classic heel is no longer effective. Here's the thing, John Cena is perhaps the most over heel that the company has despite the fact he is playing a classic babyface. I feel that wrestling should evolve to reflect this and characters should be based around elements that one demographic loves and another demographic hate.

It may be complicated to pull off, given that the "classic heel" of wrestling will be phased out, but this is WWE and they are adamant that they are more than just wrestling - so I'd like to see them try this method of storytelling. They've basically opened it up for John Cena since he's essentially doing it already. Furthermore, have you seen the psychology that Cena displays when the crowd is clearly against him? It's absolutely magnificient and a real sign that Cena is more than skilled to play a duel role.

It's possible, certainly. The Attitude era at least hinted that such a thing was possible.

I think you need to maintain at least a little kayfabe though. People may know the score, but I think it still plays something of a partial role in the appeal of wrestling to them.

Chris Benoit story to be turned into movie. Well at least they waited a little while before heading into this. I would imagine its going to be an unbiased look into Sports Entertainment and its effects on the people involved...not. And the name of the film at this time is Crossface. Found the story at deadline.com.

I mentioned this last page, no one commented on it. It looks like they're trying to capture that "Wrestler", "Warrior", "The Fighter" feel with this. As for Cena playing the crowd, it's hardly magnificent when it's so easy to acknowledge or not acknowledge them with that much heat. I will say though if they are using this to turn him heel over a period of time that leads up to Wrestlemania that they're doing a pretty good job of it. Cena is pseudo heel anyways.

Has anyone checked out the new Stone Cold DVD? It's been out since the end of Nov and been getting rave reviews from what I've read. I will probably rent it soon and if I like it get it at Christmas time like I'm doing with the Shawn Vs Bret DVD.

Dixie seems excited about 2012. Wonder what these projects are she is talking about.

Vince wants to elevate the Bella Twins and isn't happy with Mick's return so far (dur).

Finally Botchamania 195...both of them. The fan chants during the Big Show and Henry match were just awesome. So was the Everyone Talks Too Much segment.

The Chris Benoit movie leaves me with a sick feeling in my stomach.

Mick's return has been underwhelming, and that's definitely not his fault, or any indication that he's no longer able to contribute something. It's just a question of figuring out what that might be. I'm pretty sure we'll see him work a big match before long.

The Miz will be returning to Conan tonight. Last time of course he was WWE Champion and the face of the company heading into Wrestlemania 27. He also of course bestowed the nick name "Ginga Ninja" upon Conan last time.

I was watching a youtube video of Sting and Kevin Nash confronting Immortal (man that version of the nWo theme song is crap) and laughed when I saw a comment below that said TNA is like a retirement home for retired WWE guys! Not really true but feel the sentiment behind that statement. Man that was a bad story line...and they didn't even execute it right.

Did you know that several WWE wrestlers smoke cigarettes?! I find this ironic considering their profession relies on excellent cardio conditioning! Off the top of my head...

Randy Orton
Santino Marella
R-Truth
Chris Jericho
Big Show (not sure if he does anymore, I remember he said something about quitting in an interview)

That's not really surprising. Some of them must drink too when they go out and party. No big deal.

Of course, my point is simply amazement at how they manage to keep their cardio at an athletic level. It's particulary surprising in the cases of R Truth, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton, each of whom work a faster paced style of wrestling.

Speaking of speed, WWE needs to bring up Alex Kozlov from FCW. That guy can hit a running somersault plancha out of the ring and land on his feet - or rather land so he breaks into a run! Furthermore the guy is an excellent technical wrestler and does this cool spot where he puts on an Ushanka and does a Cossack dance whilst stomping his opponent!

It's amusing that this thread seems to go all over the place. We don't stay on topic very often...kind of like WWE right now! ;)

I thought you watched conan last night. the miz gave conan a pair of wrestling trunks to wear.

WWE wrestlers rarely get the primetime talkshow kind of publicity when the WWE is over here. They usually end up on the breakfast shows and only have around five minutes to plug the WWE live events. Sometimes Sky Sports will get someone like Kane on the show to talk about the Royal Rumble. There's a really good non-kayfabe interview up on Youtube where Kane is on a Sky Sports show and talking about his early career and how he played basketball in high school.

It always cracks me up at how well spoken Kane is when he's not playing the character! It's a pretty amazing at how different he is to the character we see on WWE television.

He uses an opaque contact lens to achieve that look, similar to the ones that Rey Mysterio often uses. It's interesting because prior to Kane's unmasking he didn't wear them - talk about continunity errors!
