WTF!!! Are they kidding??? How'd I miss this?

They're out of stock because of that price or because they realized they made a mistake & it was quicker to post OOS.

I have that set. It sucks. Some of the discs don't work, the case falls apart at a glance. And it's not just mine, I've read that in reviews about it all over the place.

Yeah, don't sweat missing that ya'll. I bought a similar one for my son and they are bootleg. THEY DON'T WORK. You know that old adage," if it seems too good to be real, then it is?" Or something like that. I bought one on ebay and it didnt work. If you google that you'll see that those bootlegs are a real problem. Best to buy the old set, each season in it's own box. Takes up more space, but at least they are reliable.

The green complete series set? We got it last summer, we're partway through season 5 and we haven't had any problems. It's not a bootleg, it's legit.

The site is legit and I saw a forum where many people got their DVDs...others had them canceled, so I assume it may have been a mistake...yet they ran out of copies and re-added them several times...and its STILL UP!

It's not a bootleg, it's just a shitty job CBS/Paramount/whoever was in charge of this set did. I mean I guess it's like most things where some are perfectly fine and others not, but It seems like they had such a high number of fails among them...

I hate fancy packaging like this set (and, for that matter, the original TNG sets) used. That's why I threw all the packaging away and put the DVDs into slim cases that zip. Much easier that way!

The Chinese bootlegs are getting better and better, so it can be hard to tell. Here is an older, 100% confirmed bootleg still being sold:

I don't know if they've started bootlegging the newer style TNG sets, but I would guess they have.
When looking for Beatles mono mixes I found there were bootlegs that copied the original packaging almost exactly, just of a slightly lower quality. So if the new TNG sets have crappy packaging, I imagine they will be all the more easily bootlegged.
If you can, find out the country of origin. If it's "drop shipped" from China, it's guaranteed to be a copy. The link in the OP has very little specific information, which is a red flag. Back when the "chosen collection" sets above were selling in large numbers they'd list country of origin, or say they were "region free" DVD's - code for bootleg. But today, they just show a stock image, and tell you little else.

If it's listed as new and at a huge discount, it's 99% likely to be a bootleg, whether the site is "legit" or not.

I've always wanted the complete STNG DVD set and like many have held out slim hope for a bluray version sometime in the near future. With that said I recently purchased the complete series on Ebay season by season (the individual season sets starting in 2002). It took me about a month but I paid an average of $21 per season and they all are in mint condition (3 seasons were still shrunk wraped with orginal inserts).

I am deployed to Iraq currently, and they have an "Iraqi Bizzarr" on base here where they sell LOTS of DvD's, all bootlegs. They have a Star Trek: TNG "boxed set" with all 7 seasons on disks for only $15! I think I am going to pick that up today! They also have Enterprise, DS9 and Voyager and all the films too!!!

There are a number of discussions on the web about this set. Here are a few:

I bought the set for my son off ebay. Some episodes played, some didn't. I think i paid $110 for the set. I contacted the seller and thankfully he took the set back and fully refunded my money. I then found the old set for $178 (also on ebay) and bought that one.

I believe that unless you buy the set from AMAZON themselves (not a seller on amazon) you will be getting a bootleg set. The amazon price is something like $300. You'd be better off getting the old set, either all at one time like i did (if you are lucky enough to find a seller offering it) or collect it one season at a time.

Many MANY if not MOST of those websites that sell dvds at ridiculously low prices are bootleg/knockoffs. If the site is telling you one minute that there are none in stock and then the next telling you they have them, that alone should tell you something is wrong.

We got ours from Deepdiscount.com. We've bought from them for years and never had a problem.
