But if "Wrongs Darker" is to be taken as valid, one would have to speculate on why he'd omit 12 years of personal history initially. Was he ashamed of his early role in the Occupation? (Not necessarily for having been naughty, mind you - he might regret not having been cruel enough. Which he later does, of course, but again his honesty might be questioned. He's slippery like that.)
Cardassians pride themselves as excellent keepers of records. Even in the apocalyptic chaos of Occupation and Withdrawal, detailed archives survive e.g. to collapse Armin Maariza's clever scheme. Would Dukat be able to falsify his past, and to what extent?
And what's that in "Return to Grace" about Dukat wanting himself to be "reinstated" as Legate? When did he get that rank or position? Memory Alpha claims there's a mention of him having been Legate once in "Indiscretion", but that's incorrect. Was Dukat a Legate when in command of Bajor or Terok Nor? Or was he a Legate only in the post-revolution Cardassia where he advised the Detapa Council - until coming clean with the fact of having a Bajoran daughter?
