Wow what is this ship from the ship of the line calender?

My god, why do nearly all the pictures of that calender look like 15-year-old rookie-artist pictures ripped from the web?

They should hire some of the present-day web artists, they make that calender look like shit.

What 15 year olds are you hanging out with?

Well.. to be honest he's not far wrong - the standard of those is mid to late 1990s. This is far far far better than I can do but still...

I'm guessing some of those pics aren't the full finished product. Look like they need a bit more rendering

I'm not particularly happy with that ship. It doesn't have the design aesthetic of a ship going forward. Although, I do think that design trends are moving away from the two-haul approach which is kinda sad because that approach was uniquely Star Trek.

To me it actually looks like a slipstream runabout. Small. Maybe even only 2 decks that are habitable, with the engineering section in the "hump" below the main deck.

I was thinking the same thing.

Hate to say it, but I agree as well. It seems like not only are the images mid-'90s quality, the overall quality of images produced for these calenders has gone down since the earlier editions. 'Cmon, hasn't anyone working on these heard of an area light? :wtf:

The artist has talked about the ship in a thread down in TrekArt. It's the USS Spirit, a transwarp prototype from 2390. It has four decks and a crew compliment of about 12.

I can't help but thinking it's been ripped off the Enterprise E (not the same scale though). Very nice.

Agreed. Ent-E, secondary hull with the nacelles turned down.
Yep, the front lower ofthat ship looks like the ass-end of a sovereign class.

This ship looks like an experimental vessel, like a ship used to test the new propulsion systems.

Also, you guys are correct... all of these images are dogshit.

Oh man, if thats correct, it was built about 10 years after Voyager got back

^ Which makes a lot of sense if you think about it. They would have to reverse engineer the Slipstream to make it an effective piece of equipment.
