Wow - ST goofs

The sections of the bridge fro the viewer to next to Spock's station were typically pulled out for camera access, and often the crew would just cheat the "command module" this way and that to get shots they needed without having to push the bridge back together.

Cool. So, this explains another puzzle I noticed years ago in The Doomsday Machine. In the teaser, when Kirk is walking around from the viewer to Spock's station, one station is missing.

I never noticed that. Which section is missing?

Good question.

The time index is from about 1:20 to 1:33 on my unremastered DVD. TrekCore images of the remastered version are on this page: http://tos.trekcore.com/hd/thumbnails.php?album=58&page=2. You can't see the switches at the stations, only the eye-level and overhead display monitors.

But it's clearly not the defense half station, so it's either weapons or assistant navigator.

Going by the McMaster bridge blueprints (whose absolute accuracy I won't attest to), the displays labeled DEFLECTOR BEAM STATUS D. and TRACTOR BEAM STATUS D. of the WEAPONS SUB-SYSTEMS CHECKOUT STATION are clearly visible next to Spock's station. So it would appear that the station labeled NAVIGATION SUB-SYSTEMS CHECKOUT STATION is the one missing.
