WoW - Musings & Discussion

I was a bit underwhelmed. I thought the Wrath one was much better. They need to hire better voice actors.

^ Agreed, Wrath was a shitty expansion overall, but the intro cinematic was goosebumps-worthy for anyone who has actually played the previous Warcraft titles. (I understand the WoW kiddies who don't even know about Warcraft I - III didn't enjoy it as much.)

In other news...

For those of you who have been following this year's BlizzCon (or any of the previous ones for that matter), this is going to be pretty entertaining:

8 Questions Every WoW Fan Apparently Needs Answered

i had fun at blizzcon this year. mostly just watched panels... i played one game of d3 and one game of aiur chef. i thought the Q&A panels were interesting, the open one and the lore one (i skipped the class one). i made it a point to take a few more pictures with the costumed folk. that was fun. i didnt get a pic with the demon hunter... turns out she was one of the girlfriends from "The Girls Next Door."

Got bored and finally completed my collection of spirit beasts. Went out to Grizzly Hills and camped for about an hour to get the bear spirit beast. It was the easiest one to get so far.

I am now playing again after a 4-month break. I've decided to go with my Tauren Warrior as my main for Cataclysm. :techman: Fury is awesome now! I have fairly crappy gear and can still pull 5k dps in heroics.

I think warriors are actually my favorite class but I'd played a druid healer all throughout Wrath so that I could get into raids easily. It worked. Healing is fun, too, but there's something about cleaving somebody in the face with a giant axe that I find appealing.

Farm the pre-cata bosses. I think the Flame and Earth ones have the dps plate gear. It's basically free ilvl 251 lootz and Justice Points. I'm gearing up my pathetic DK. I've already gone from doing 1800dps to 3200. :)

it's sounding like tomorrow is the day the world breaks... i have alts that i will need to bust out again, or maybe just reroll them completely and see all the new stuff. i'm excited.

Already? That makes me happy and sad. Happy that these incredibly annoying invasions will finally be over (I assume), and sad because farming JPs will also be over.

On the plus side, I'll be able to more easily do the Thanksgiving dailies on my alts. I've already dinged 2 of them. :) They're inching their way to 80, one holiday at a time. :)

No posts since Nov 23rd.. everyone too busy playing Cat?

I feel like I finished Cat now. Loremaster of Cataclysm, exalted with everyone. Kind of bored. Goblins are still cool though.

I'm torn.

On the one hand, Cata is an incredibly lazy-assed expansion. A mere 5 levels, most advertised improvements canceled or watered down to near-irrelevance. Phasing was a terrible idea. You can't play with your friends anymore and it makes the game way too linear. And why the hell are Vyrkul trying to conquer the bottom of the ocean thousands of years ago?!? Something has happened to the game mechanics too. My DPS has plummeted drastically.

On the other hand, some of the old world reboot is cool. (Not all.) Flying is good. The proliferation of FPs is good. The new zones are visually spectacular. I am enjoying leveling my low level drood through the new quest chains. The Hero Boards are a very good idea.

What are The Hero Boards?

Some of the new quest lines in early zones are wonderful. Can't say the same for the Cat zone quest lines which seem for the most part disconnected from anything that's gone on before. And fun as Uldum was there is zero reason to return to any of these places once you're done. It is certainly more linear as you say.

The dungeons are BORING. A lot less going on then in Lich king. Compare running from Arthas spurred on by the Lady Sylvanas, the amusing bosses of TOC (Paletress still cracks me up), the Caverns of Time history lesson in Stratholme.. to bashing big stuff and making sure you cc and don't step in fire. There's more variety in Heroics but normals are dull as dirt.

I can't seem to find any quest chains about Bloodhoof's death. It seems to be just something that happened and everyone knows it but not really in the game? I hope I'm wrong and someone can't point it out.

Bloodhoof's death... the Dwarf king's turning to stone... Are those in the game or do we need to spend more money on books and stuff to understand them? I don't know.

The Hero Boards are those bulletin board things in the centers of the major cities that give quests to visit new lands when you make new levels. I think they have a different name on the Horde side. I would never have gotten all these FPs if the boards hadn't prompted me to go there.

And why the hell are Vyrkul trying to conquer the bottom of the ocean thousands of years ago?!?
First of all, they're Kvaldir, a seafaring, ghost-variety of Vrykul.
Secondly, that didn't happen thousands of years ago, but shortly before Cataclysm.
The battlemaiden-questchain shows the Naga mobilising for the hunt for Neptulon. In the present, they're still mobilising and only start attacking the Abyssal Maw at the end of the zone.
There's not much time that could've passed.
