WoW - Musings & Discussion

it's a good thing i never got into World of Warcraft. although it seems to be an truly awesome experience, my social life would be forfeit if i were to delve into that game.

I've not had my social life take a hit. *shurg* Just remember it is just a game and that it will be there when you get back.

Oh yeah, now I remember why I hardly ever ran dungies before WotLK.
It's people like you who ruined the game for people like me

Just kidding ;) Blizzard did the right thing by increasing the overall accessibility of WoW after the first expansion (just like they're doing the right thing right now by tuning Cata to be more challenging than WotLK) - they're a business after all, catering to the hardcore minority only wouldn't be very wise.

4.0.1 is here! Enjoy your lag-fest (if and when the servers are up on time after the extended maintenance).

Back to ICC for me I think, practising the new specs and talents provides good incentive to do so.

The new holy pally spec looks cool; I just started healing on my pally it was a bit annoying, but the changes look like it will be better.

I have not been looking forward to today... I expect full chaos and raid wipes for a while till we get all this new junk down. The fear of the unknown is the culprit though... hopefully it'll be a lot easier than I'm expecting.

I'm not even doing raids at this stage. Not only am I sick and tired of ICC but all these changes guarantee there will be a lot of wipes and finger-pointing at other people for screwing up. Not to mention spec changes constantly going on to figure out the best.

Yeah. Dungeons are going to be painful for a bit until people learn how to play. I'm probably also going to go back to building my groups out of friends list/guilds/trade chat and avoid LFD for a bit.

I'm doing a hell of a lot more damage as Protribution compared to pre-4.0. Then again, every caster is also doing insane damage. But I've been surprised how high some of my hits are landing for. 10k avenger's shields, 12k ShoR with 3 stacks of holy power. I definitely don't feel gimped damage wise like I did previously when trying out protribution.

Though, I am getting murdered plenty still by casters. At least if I get in range I can murder em plenty back.

And hooray for patch night server stability. Though, Wow is currently a lot more stable than I would have expected for a patch this size right on patch day.

I got 310% speed on my paladin. I thought it would be 4k with exalted rep but it's showing up as 5k. I'm going to wait and see if that's intended or not before I purchase it for my others who don't have it yet. I did surprisingly well on my paladin though in ret. I didn't try any elites but the regular mobs go down fast enough that I don't get more than one of the holy power stacks instead of the three you're supposed to use the big hits with. I also dual-specc'd a few others since it's only 100g now. I'm going to stock my hunter's stable with as many varities as I can.

I've got buttloads of money, but I'm waiting until Cataclysm and the level grind to get 310 flying.

So, I spent three hours last night online and didn't do anything but respec, fix my UI, and accidentally buy 1500g worth of the wrong gems. Hazzah!

Yeah, I haven't touched any of my gems until I know exactly what I should get. I should probably get in the market right now, the iron is hot to strike as a JC.

I still need to replace what used to be armor pen gems on my warrior. They all changed to crit.

Oh, and some GM with a great sense of humor helped me last night. I was doing some pvp on my pally in WSG when I dc'd. I couldn't log back in after that. I logged in this morning to find myself sitting in front of Org. On the plus side, I had plenty of time to update my mods waiting for the would be corpse campers to get bored and leave.

I did surprisingly well on my paladin though in ret. I didn't try any elites but the regular mobs go down fast enough that I don't get more than one of the holy power stacks instead of the three you're supposed to use the big hits with. didn't play him enough to justify spending 1000g

I tried a little bit of ret on the target dummies this morning. My dps was ~500-1000 lower than it was pre-4.0 (that was about what I was getting with the new system before when I was trying it out on the PTR), but I don't have the new system down yet. I'm still not completely sold on holy power for prot, but it's a lot of fun for ret. Plus, I like seeing the huge TV crits.

That's good to know on dual specs. I've been considering dual specs for my mage, but haven't bothered since he didn't get played enough to justify spending 1000g. I think all the rest of my 80s already have dual specs.

I'm not doing anything serious with my characters until Cata is released. I figure I'm well off enough not to need to play the AH or bother regemming, enchanting or redoing mastery on gear that'll be replaced quickly enough. All there is to do right now is just take my time learning the new rotations such as they are (which until 85 aren't even complete) and get familar with the changes. Good time to do new interface too.

For those who care, Anzu no longer requires a druid and can be killed for the Ravenlord mount now in Sethekk Halls. Same drop rate as before so good luck! They removed the Druid epic flight quest so there would be no way to summon him.

I tried it on my Ret Paly without regemming yet and not all my glyphs and it was difficult mainly because of the stuns/knockdowns but doable in a half-assed spec. I did down him though, no mount. :( I can do it every day on my own without the burden of finding a Druid so that's a plus. :D
