WoW - Musings & Discussion

Mine too, it's odd.

I really only started playing WoW in Post-Ulduar WotLK, so Having done all the old world quests I could find I'm looking forward to the Old World Revamp.

Explorer for the win.

Sadly, the BC races got shafted in terms of old world story and zone progression AS WELL AS the fact that Worgen & Goblins don't get representation at the Argent Tournament. (Which well and truly blows.)

Hopefully they'll have a faction tabard or something.

Also... what's the lvling dynamic like now that 1-60 is revamped and BC 60-70 isn't?

Flashback?

I found a solution to the Downloader problem. Apparently a lot of people are having the same issue. This works for Windows XP. I have no idea about other versions.

- Open your Explorer and go to the World of Warcraft directory.
- Right-click on BackgroundDownloader.exe and select Properties.
- Go to the Compatibility tab.
- Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and select Windows 98/Windows Me from the list.
- Push OK.
- Double-click on BackgroundDownloader.exe to run it.

Bumping this because I switched to Thrall and I have to say it's awesome always having WG.

And another release date has been announced. December 7 or 14th. The previous November release date isn't happening

No, MMO Champion has speculated on the release dates. No release date has actually been announced.

Aeeee! protals are going away. People will actually have to travel! (or there is gonna be alot of rich mages)

I should've been more clear, yeah. The unofficial release date was pushed back. MMO-Champ is usually on the money but not always and obviously an official release date has remained elusive.

Sorry that I jumped on your back like that. It's just that I read the comments thread on MMO-champion and that annoyed me enough that I saw anyone commenting on that in the same light. :)

Hmmm..... Where would they place the AH's..... It can't be on the tiers or the banks because those work on Scryer/Aldor rep instead of Horde/Alliance. Maybe in the vacated alcoves where the portals used to be. 2 alcoves for the new trainers and 2 for the AH's. Unless they keep the portal to Sunwell Island in which case there will only be 3 free alcoves. Or along that long, bare, back wall between the tier elevators. Neutral AH in Lower City.

In Dal, there's some empty rooms in the Silver Enclave near the badge vendors. Presumably the same in the Horde area, though I've never been there so I don't know. Neutral AH in the sewer near the goblin bankers

Yeah, but if the idea is to make the 2 other xpacs self-sufficient then a neutral AH makes sense. Another option that just came to mind and that makes more sense is to put it in Area 52. Not sure where you'd put one in NR though.

The empty areas of the faction inns are meant for role-players apparently. I'm not an RPer but I've read some stuff recently about how Blizzard does support it (aside from the fact there are dedicated realms to it and a lot of so-called junk gear for playing dress up and lots of seemingly pointless other things).

It's meant for them to have a place that's a little quieter and more "atmospheric" to conducting RPing. What all that means, I'm not entirely sure although the Goldshire Inn is infamous for some of what's said to go on.

Anyhow, yeah those areas could be converted into auction houses, neutral or otherwise but I suspect they'll just as well leave them alone and not do that. Their intention is for players to head to their major capital city (Orgrimmar or Stormwind respectively). What better way than to make you go there to use the auction house or train above 78-80 since Shattrath and Dalaran will not provide portals or those services?

^It's already confirmed that Shattrath and Dalaran will be getting trainers and AHs' in place of portals.
