Would you watch a Stargate series based at the SGC (like Stargate SG-1) but set about 50 to 100 years in the future?
pretty much, yeah, but i'm a stargate fan, ill watch anything stargate, except for stargate infinity hehe
I was wondering if fans would accept such a dramatic push into the future seeing as currently Stargate runs at the same timeline as the real world.
one of the things I like about the Stargate franchise is that it's set in our current time and is limited by our current technology (more of less), our knowledge base, culture, etc.
But it wouldn't though, it'd only be like 50 to 100 years, why should the humour have to change?I for one like the timely references and humor of Stargate, a show set far into the future would lose that.
As for your "current time and is limited by our current technology (more of less)" comment, that so far wrong it's unreal!
Earth has access to all the technologies of the Asgard, the show might aswell be set 10,000 years in the future.
Never mind the fact that it'll take about 50 or so years to access the Asgard database.Earth has access to all the technologies of the Asgard, the show might aswell be set 10,000 years in the future.

Well they've already accessed shields, hyperdrive, weapons, sensors, anti-grav and holographics. Anything after that is just bonus material.
In 'unending' look how much Carter was able to access ON HER OWN in just 50 year, imagine how much is being accessed on Earth every single day by a team of a hundred scientists.

The Asgard gave them most of that back in Disclosure,

Yes the Asgard gave them the tech in the sense that they upgraded Earth ships with that technology, they didn't actually give Earth the knowledge of how to build them, Earth relied on the Asgard doing the upgrades. It wasn't until 'unending' that Earth was given the knowledge on how to build them on their own without the help of the Asgard.
HOW CAN YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THIS!

They still not built anything yet from the Asgard database and it took Carter 50 odd year to figure out the basics, few earth scientists have her experience though. And calm down.
How can you possibly consider Carter better than 100 scientists? she's a genius yes but she's not the only one, you're giving her waaaaaaaaaaaay too much credit. You're not telling me that there arn't other McKays, other Zelenkas and other Carters back on Earth.
created the dialing program that enabled them to visit other planets
