Would you watch a mixed male/female all hamster crew?

Here's my idea -- it's a new Star Trek show. There's another ship; maybe it's the Enterprise, maybe it's not. But either way all of the actors are played by hamsters and the aliens they encounter will wear different hats, coats, and maybe things like tails or wings that can be attached to a costume.

The sets would consist of miniatures made in the scale of the average hamster's height/width. Because the sets would be miniatures it would be much easier for the production crew to make new areas -- ships, planets -- for the hamsters to explore.

There wouldn't be any effort made to make the hamsters look like they're moving their mouths when they talk -- that would be the main conceit of the show. Also, while multiple takes of scenes would be filmed it might not be possible to keep all of the hamsters awake or sitting in their positions. If something like that happens they'll dub in a voice over with the hamster saying something like "They've hit me with a hypno-sleep wave, captain! I'm getting....tiiiired."

The show itself would be set five or ten years after the events of Star Trek Nemesis and wouldn't put much emphasis on the Romulans as TrekLit has that story covered pretty well. There might also be a few mini-arcs per season but no major arcs like "Lost in The Delta Quadrant" or "Dommion War" type arcs.

NOTE: While South Park recently used Guinea pigs in it's show hamsters are much smaller animals and thusly cheaper to pay for and feed. Using hamsters would be much more cost efficient than any other rodent.

Well it would certainly get more cost effective. You could probably make more episodes per season... like 56 episodes for season. Multiply that by 7 and this is already sounding like the best Trek series yet :techman:

^^^Just to see THIS, I would watch it.

Is the ship powers by one of those hamsterwheels. Hey come to think of it, the picture of the ship in engineering on the Enterprise D showed a hamsterwheel where the engineering section was. hmmmm

Those Trek Hamsters are adoreable! ^^

I was thinking about weird things that would happen in fandom if Hamster Trek went through.

-- Fan Conventions: Of course, the hamster actors would be invited to the conventions so that their fans could meet them. There wouldn't be any autographs but you'd be able to pet your favorite Starfleet officers. Some of them would even act in character.

-- Fan Arguments: Over the course of the series they would probably have to replace hamsters multiple times...leaving fans to argue which hamster played the role with the most gusto. "Mr. Whiskers VI will always be the ultimate Captain Harris in my eyes." "Whiskers VI? Are you kidding? His acting was wooden and he slept through most of his scenes!"

-- Bring in new fans: The under ten crowd will love the hamsters and the over ten crowd will love the intelligent plotting, character development, and philsophy! Everybody wins!

Hamsters!?! I believe you mean tribbles.

They are the hamsters of the future.

And yes, a Trek series with an all-tribble cast would rule.
