Would you prefer this a s Deep space 9 station?

As is? No. With a few tweaks, you could have a real contender though. Add some windows on the station hull, extend the docking arms out, and slap some DS9 style docking pylons on it and you'll get a nice station.
It's pretty cool looking, in an ugly Cardassian sort of way, but I wouldn't want it to replace DS9. Maybe Empok Nor.
Maybe, it's the Cardassian design style, but it has a sort of run down look to it. So if they had pushed the idea more that DS9 was an old run down station that was barely operational, it could have worked. Luckily O'Brien was the kind of engineer who could turn rocks into replicators and whipped Terok Nor into shape with noting but a tricoder, a hyperspanner, and a couple trainees.

While that does look more industrial than what we got (DS9 looks more functional to what it became in Feddie hands than its function before), it's ugly, in a bad way. DS9 is ugly in a good way 
I think if the intent is for it to be a run-down alien space station that has seen better days, it works perfectly. I voted yes. It kinda has character to its design the same way the Millennium Falcon has, IMO.
That being said, it's probably not a place that I'd want to visit, much less stay at.

That does look more like an ore processing station, so it's the more realistic design. But it also looks ugly as hell.
I think it says something about the Cardassians that they made even their ore processing station elegant.
