Would you like a remake of Blake's 7?

I found this concept art from a proposed remake of Blake's 7..

It looks terrible

The concept art they did for their vision of the remake was just dreadful. Just generic grungy.

Take a look

I just wish remakes would do away with this "grungy" look as it's not hip or cool looking but cliched.... Anyway these concepts look terrible... IMHO

which proposed remake was that art work supposedly from?

The remake that Paul Darrow was involved with until they parted ways over creative differences or the remake that from the last update (2013) was going to bs "broadcast" via Xbox?

At the end of the day it comes down to the writing, the casting and if what changes they make the characters.

I enjoyed the audio re-imagining which features Derek Riddell as Blake and Colin Salmon as Avon and was disappointed it didn't get a second season so I'm not opposed to the idea of a remake.

I've got some of the big finish audios with the original cast and in the interviews there have been few comments on whether Blake was a freedom figher or a terrorist could get interesting if that angle was explored in this day and age.

FWIW until he decided to go after Star One, you could say he was a freedom fighter because all their targets were Federation not civillian. Given what would happen after Star One was taken out, it would make him a terrorist becasue the civillian casualties would have been massive.

Given that the Federation were evil bastards taking out Star One was a community service ... Any civillians working there know what the Federation is like so yeah I'm not too sorry about that.

Suggest you go watch the episode again.

Star one handled space traffic and weather control across the federation for example.

Failure in the case of the former killed hundreds of 1000s of civillians in one incident.

There's nothing wrong with any of these at all, especially London.

Well what did you expect from a modern remake? Look at how the remake of BSG sucked out everything that made the original imaginative or unique and left us with generic "edginess" and early 21st century clothes.

It won't let me quote any of you guys..

Anyway the London one reminded me of what the Master wanted to do to Earth in "Last Of The Timelords" when he became Harold Saxon...

And grungy is overdone ... I agree with the last poster in this thread as what happened with the new BSG...

No, although I wouldn't mind a version of the original with the effects redone. It didn't look good when it came out and it looks even worse now.

I'd want the new stuff to look in keeping though, kind of like if Gerry Anderson had made it...

OK. I had always thought that Star One was the heart of the Federation, and where its evil heart resided..

There are many words than can be used to describe the original Battlestar Galactica but original, imaginative or unique aren't some of them.

Not to mention it was cheesier than a Kraft factory (and yes I saw the original when it first aired).

And a modern remake could work quite well but as I said up thread a lot of it would dependon the casting and writing (no more Animals please).

So it was reminiscent of Star Wars, still looked better than putting people from a different civilization (in the ancient past) in business suits and cocktail dresses from the 2000s in order to seem "mature".

Plus the aliens looked really good for a 70s TV show (the few we saw). How did the aliens in the remake look again? Oh yeah right; no aliens because "edgy" and "mature".

Also IRRC there were unicorns, there's not enough unicorns in Life Action.

We did get an explanation for the modern look of the RDM BSG, so it doesn't really bother me that much.

I've only seen the first episode of the original Blake's 7, but it seems to me like something that could be the source of a great BSG style remake.
The designs in the first post don't bother me. The designs are a little generic for a modern Sci-Fi show, but I don't think they're bad. I would be more than happy with those designs as long as the cast, writing, and directing were good.

I guess it might depend on what's changed for the remake. I like a sleek Liberator if they stick with it being some advanced alien prototype. Perhaps this look is for a Liberator that has different origins, something cobbled together by the rebel factions, perhaps?

Perhaps something like what's in the following link would meet your requirments?

It was a concept design done when Sky in the U.K looked at rebooting the series.

Apart from being fugly the designs in the OP for the Liberator could be too costly for use on a TV budget.

For a sleeker look? It's an interesting concept at least. I didn't grow up with B7 and had to watch it as an adult when torren, er technology made it possible to see in the US so I don't have the nostalgia to rub the wrong way.

The current ongoing audio serieses had some fantastic political infighting between Servelan who ran the military and the president (The ongoing series has Gareth Thomas in it, so these stories are set during seaosn 2 of the tv show.) which makes me alittle bit interested in a show that deals with everyone in the Federation except Blake and his crew.

Just sad stories about half assed rebellion, untill the Liberator shows up and starts blowing up cities form orbit, and then fobs off.

I love the top nacelle in the art. It is how I want the Carey Dreadnaught nacelles to taper off--into antennae
