Would we ever see Sequels set in TMP era?

How many of us would be interested in seeing The Motion Picture time frame by about movie 3? (Assuming it goes that far). You know....with the refit TOS Enterprise, and bridge sets, filling in that 7-10 year period between TMP and TWoK. You have your beloved characters and that great ship and plenty of time for new stories and adventures w/o worrying about which part of "history" your going to bump up against.
Change the pastel-puke colors and move on from there. In my opinion the refit Constitution II class is even more "timeless" than the original design! This time has always been a "dead spot" in the Trekverse anyway.
Was there another 5 year mission with Kirk in command? We imagine, but.....?
How did Spock reintergrate into Enterprise/Starfleet life?

Hey, they did it with Superman. Trek could do it be better. "Jim, what the hell kinda strategy is this!"-L. McCoy

Assuming this film is a success, no. I think we'll get six films at the very most, more likely around three... and then recasts. The age of geriatric space adventurers is past us, I think.

You have no idea how much I would love to see that ship TMP era on screen again.

As would I, but I don't think we'll ever see it grace the silver screen again.

But yeah, what a great looking ship, that one.

The TMP refit doesn't happen too far after the end of TOS. They can have the ending of the 3rd or 4th movie after this one with the Big E docking at Earth for the major refit.

The TWoK-TUC red uniforms were great, the TMP uniforms were boring. The TMP uniforms are a piece of continuity they can skip over and noone would notice:)

Those weren't the uniforms in TMP. The delivery ship from the uniform department got axed by V'Ger, so they all had to bust out their Starfleet issue footie pajamas. :)

I would love to see more in the TNG-design era. It'll never happen, of course.

I love the overall production design of TMP better than any of the other films. And yes, I even have a soft spot for the uniforms (well, some of them anyway -- the one-piece-footy-jammies are pretty awful). But the other 2-piece ones, esp. Kirk's admiral uniform, Spock's black-collar variation, and the short-sleeved duty uniforms, are pretty cool. I would have preferred they stick closer to the TOS uniform colors (black trousers, at least) but I actually like the overall look. They seem like something you could actually picture wearing all day, every day, unlike the TWOK versions.

(But the TWOK uniforms, while I liked them at the time, just look gaudy and overdone to me now. Kind of like Michael Jackson's faux-military finery of recent years. Not as sparkly, but still fairly silly. But I digress. Your mileage may vary, of course.)

Yep, they're ridiculous.

Since the TOS era is going to look very different and be more modern, if we ever see the TMP era it will doubtless be similarly updated.

Dug 'em myself, had a definite Naval look to them. Their chief disadvantage is they looked more like dress uniforms, rather than ones you would actually work in, ie impractical and uncomfortable. And what I hear, they were.

They would have better suited as ceremonials, and something else the characters wore normally.

This is the TWOK and onwards uniforms? Those were suppose to be pretty comfortable I think? far more than the PJs (which didn't allow people to sit down without pain).

In regards to working - you'll notice than anyone who actually seems to do any work on the enterprise doesn't wear those uniforms, they wear jumpsuits (or the very little seen green Stewards uniforms) ;)

Persoanlly, I like it when these things change and make no big deal out of it. Like TWOK. We didn't get an explaination as to why the bridge had undergone another refit. Or the uniform change. We just assume that these things were done over the course of time.
I think the TMP uniforms with the TOS color scheme: Black pants, division specific tunics, etc. It might be better than the TWOK jackets (that have been used from 1981 on).
OR...
Resurrect the Phase II idea for TV, but new crew and set on the Exeter or something. Use up some of those scripts that never saw the light of day.

They're anything but comfortable - hot, heavyweight wool, very confining and with over a dozen snaps, buckles, zippers and/or velcro involved in getting in and out of them. All so the actor can look like the head waiter at a peculiar theme restaurant.
