Would lazy people be frowned upon on 24th century earth in Star Trek?

It's a utopian paradise on earth in the 24th century, with the acquisition of wealth no longer the driving force in people's lives. That being said, I'm sure that there would be a lot of people who want to contribute towards society since they are really thankful for the great lives that they have.

But I'm sure that there would be some lazy people on earth who would do absolutely nothing and just sit around all day enjoying all of the pleasures 24th century earth would have to offer without giving anything back in return.

Do you think that for those people, while they would be allowed to be lazy, everyone else would look down upon them and shun them?

Kim sure looked down on alternate-Paris playing pool all day. That kind of disapproval could well be what motivates people to take on jobs like being waiters.

Laziness is a trait that should always be frowned upon in any generation. You don't get to be the best by sitting around, just fantasizing about it. Of what use is a dream, but as a blueprint ... for action???
Laziness is relative. You could be working 24 hours a day every day, and there will always be one douche that will brag about working 25. Uphill. Both ways. In a blinding snowstorm.

I'm forced to disagree about laziness being relative. Yes, there are those who do work hard and brag on themselves, as though the company would have to close shoppe, if they ever quit, or something like that. And hard work does not always actually produce something, right away. For example: Bodybuilding. You can bust your ass in the gym one day, then look in the mirror and guess what? You don't look any different than you did when you first woke up, in the morning. But you keep working hard and the eventuality is all but guaranteed: you WILL achieve your goal. Laziness is a psychological disorder, as far as I'm concerned. And I'm not talking about that one occasion, where maybe someone felt too tired, or too ill, or whatever. I'm talking about a systematic reliance upon skating by and letting hard workers cover for the laziness of some member(s) on their team, in their unit, whatever ... Laziness is a symptom of low self-esteem and it's something that should be dealt with on the level of psychosis. In Catholicism, for example, sloth is considered sinful. It's a sin ... and that's not an arbitrary thing, it's an expression of Human weakness.

By the 24th Century, the root cause of laziness will have been identified and cured. A galaxy of opportunity open to everyone. Race, age, sex or class are no barrier, but some would rather sit on their arse for their whole life?
Not happening.
