Would HBO consider doing a show on Tombstone?

Joe Washington

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
A series covering Wyatt Earp's time in Tombstone from the moment he moved to the town with his brothers to his departure from Tombstone after exacting revenge aganist those he hold responsible for the death of his brother, Morgan.

Do you think such a show would become the next Deadwood on HBO

I doubt it would happen. Deadwood was brought to an end for a reason. I don't see them tackling another western.

Tombstone seems to be too ordinary of a topic for HBO to bother with. If they do a Western, there needs to be something fresh about it. Do a show from the perspective of a freed slave after the Civil War venturing west (like a lot of them did). Something we haven't seen a hundred times before.

I like the idea of sf/f elements in the Old West (wasn't there supposed to be a Supernatural spinoff like that?) but that might be too weird for HBO.

Possibly, but don't look to HBO to lead with another western unless the genre is popularized elsewhere. Deadwood was too expensive for HBO, and more popular with critics than audiences. Wyatt Earp has already been the subject of more than two dozen films according to Wikipedia (hardly a comprehensive source) and was a character on Deadwood as well. Since HBO likes to (a) make money and (b) break new ground on television, I doubt a Wyatt Earp series is in the cards, and a western of series length unlikely.
