Worth watching Babylon 5?

It's my take that every sci-fi show is worth trying out once. Heck, I even tried watching "Lexx" and "Cleopatra 2525". :o

The epic story is what drives the show, a statement that can be filed under "thanks, Capt Obvious". But I think it's those aforementioned characterizations which keep you coming back. The CGI may be what sold the series in its inception, but it's the characters which stick in your memory. It's eminently rewatchable for those who end up enjoying the show. I'm in the midst of my own umpteenth run through it.

However, given your original parameters, I wonder if Babylon 5 will be your cup of jala. I recommend you try it for the first season to season and a half, then take a pulse.

lexx was a show i really enjoyed. i havent seen the whole show tho

I think we can all agree, even those who aren't fans of the show, that B5 played an important role in the Golden Age of Science Fiction that was the 1990s along with The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, The X-Files, Stargate, Buffy, Quantum Leap, The Outer Limits, among others.
yah, big agreement from me.

the 90's was definitely the prime for sci-fi.

what do we have now? SGU? even that has been canceled. there's no sci-fi out there.

Leave the "who stole from whom" crap for other fourms.

Yea, as a fan, regardless who may have stolen from who or when, DS9 and B5 are 2 of my all time favorite SciFi sseries, and I am grateful both of them were made and are in my personal DVD collection

As am I.

Well, there's a lot of lite Sci-Fi on the networks like V, The Event, Fringe, Smallville, Supernatural (Although I like Fringe. Very X-Files-y). Last season we had Flashforward, Lost, Heroes, and Caprica. But again, none of these are really the sweeping epics that the shows of the 90s were. It's sad, especially since technology has progressed so much and we could have some really pretty looking TV shows and I feel like story telling has gotten "better." But for some reason, we can't get quality sci-fi.
