Worst Spoiler Experience?

I wasn't explicitly spoiled with The Sixth Sense but just knowing there's a twist I was able to figure it out before the end watching it where I don't know that I would've otherwise.

One recent one I thought was a let down was seeing the A-Team van destroyed in the trailer, it wasn't a major plot point but it ruined the scene.

Yeah knowing there was a twist in the Sixth Sense was enough for me to work it out the moment Bruce is shot, although in fairness to Shalyman he did enough to convince me I was wrong about half way through.

Luckily I never knew there was a twist in Fight Club, so it actually took me by surprise because I wasn't looking for it!

And what is it with giving away stuff in trailers? I love the pre title sequence to Casino Royale, but it's practically all shown in the trailer, which is a shame as the "The second is easier" bit would have been very cool as a surprise.

That's similar to my experience watching The Usual Suspects. I watched it years after it came out and didn't know the twist but it was pretty easy to figure out.

Well on this board, there's a good chance Joe Washington will post a thread title that spoils you on any given day.

I really hate being spoiled by thread titles. On another site there was some random douche who spoiled a SW novel a few years ago by posting plot-spoilery thread titles right before it came out.

On the other hand, one of the things spoiled for me about ROTS was totally my fault. I was reading a "spoilers allowed" Episode III thread and just stupidly acting as if I wasn't going to see any big spoilers.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Some of the worst offenders on this BBS are the avatars members use.

I go out of my way to avoid trailers since they are so spoiler heavy and then I come here and see material from the trailers in the form of animated avatars. Argh! :brickwall:

The thread titles like this are laughable:

"What do you think of a certain sith lord being Luke's father in TESB? SPOILERS INSIDE"

Or

"Spoilers about George Clooney and Tom Cruise's deaths in Legendary Supercop Heroes of Justice"

Heck, the minute I heard there was a twist and already knowing the line "I see dead people" I figured it out. Luckily, my friends had just come from the movie and told me there was a twist to it, so I didn't ruin the movie for them when I said "Bruce is dead isn't he?"

about 5 mins into Shutter Island i loudly said the most obvious cliche twist i could think of: 'i bet diCaprio's crazy and there never was a murder'. half the cinema groaned.

some bastard spoiled me in the TrekLit forum about a character's death in the last NF novel and without a spoiler warning and with it being less than a year old and only in hardcover.

i got warned because i posted 'thanks for the spoilers, you bastard!' in response.

oh, and Temis spoiled me on Nathan's death in Heroes.

An episode of Merlin season one features a druid child who is to become a recurring character. As he is of importance to Arthurian legend the writers don't reveal his name until the very end of the story, to give a shock ending. The Times TV listings for that week had a picture of said child, plus the caption 'Mordred'.

Yeah, spoilers aside, anyone who would loudly say anything in a movie theater is not someone I'd like to watch a movie with. :/

Yeah, it got so bad on another forum that I stopped going there completely. To add insult to injury, as if spoilerific thread titles weren't enough, one guy would often post nothing but a link, and he still does it. It's even worse when the person who runs a board doesn't respect its posters wishes. And sometimes it not even anybody's fault, but rather press releases. The title of press releases can often say too much.

Not a spoiler, but I went to see a free screening of a movie in college and sat in front of someone who was talking to his friend throughout the movie... and the friend was several rows away!!!

^ When I saw TRON Legacy, two 10-yo boys had to sit by themselves behind me and over some, away from their parental units. But they fussed with each other constantly, sometimes even whisper-shouting "DAaaad!" to the father who was in front of me and over some to the other side. He went up there twice to talk to them, then gave them nasty looks a few times, then started ignoring them altogether. Not once did it occur to him to separate them or make them sit by the parents.

Some people should not reproduce.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread topic, already in progress...

Well...it's quite hard not to get spoiled, if the show you are just starting to watch has already aired...I've gotten used to that, considering all shows start here (Finland) at least half-a-year later than they do in the US.

As I'm still eager to watch all kinds of fan-vids and stuff from the ever-so-lovely YouTube, it was pretty neat to go through Heroes vids, and run into videos called "Nathan getting shot (music video) S2 ending" and so on...but then again, I could be more careful.

Another one, that was quite a shock for me was, when I found out that Data was going to die in NEM. I can't really remember any details, but I recall my friend mentioning something in the lines of 'Hey, can you remember what movie Data died in? No, wait, I think it was Nemesis.' What fun.
