It's so interesting reading everybody's opinion! I didn't realize how disdained I, Mudd was. It's one of the few times I ever like one of the heavy comedy Star Trek episodes.

I agree with Catspaw (even though I enjoy it when I happen to see it) on the grounds that rather than being a clever science fiction idea driving the story, it is just a forced situation to put them in the Halloween environment.

Immunity Syndrome... a better and bigger SF idea you could not have. Its only problems are, I think, the confrontation Spock and McCoy have early on that seems a bit incoherent to me, and just the fact this large scale phenomenon story was done this late in the run of the show. The dialogue is a bit simple and less "adult" somehow, than it would have been if done during season one.

So the effects have to carry much of the story, and if you've seen it remastered, those effects mostly fail.

I detest Mudd's Women. But absolutely love I, Mudd. I always liked Roger C. Carmel a lot. He couldn't save the first one--where they couldn't decide if he was a lovable rogue or a true villain, and the ambiguity didn't work--but the second is comedic joy.

Heh but I bet Shatner didn't like the final result--Carmel looked sooooo much taller in every scene (he was 6'3").

I enjoy Catspaw more and more as the years go on. The slight Lovecraftian nature of Sylvia and Korob (and their people) is something I appreciate.

Assignment: Earth is a yawnfest, truly. Worst s2 ep.

Despite near equal polling for "Catspaw" and "The Omega Glory" we have "I, Mudd" taking the (dis)honour of least liked episode of Season 2.

"I, Mudd" will join with "The Alternative Factor" in the final poll for least liked of the series after we poll Season 3.

Now don't be too aggressive in your opinions, as we were saying in the Season 1 thread, someone didn't like City on the Edge of Forever. Everything that has widespread acclaim will have some people that just don't like it. Maybe a person just doesn't like germs?
