worst sci-fi TV series of post 1964

If characters in any show aren't raging sex fiends...

Kirk.

...or alcoholics...

Scotty.

Spock.

...or bitching about some other damn thing every nanosecond...

McCoy.

...then today's audience finds that show campy.

Lost in Space was so much better than that stupid "dark and gritty" NBC competitor.

The difference is Star Trek still knew when to be fun, unlike most of today's shows, so your point is moot.

All I'm trying to say is that stories about doom and gloom have their place, and yes, can be entertaining, but they should be the exception to the rule, but instead, have become the rule. And I personally find most of today's television unwatchable because of that.

Unfortunately, that's not true of Buck Rogers.

Actually yes it is. The 1980ish Buck Rogers was quite purposely made to be campy.

Then that must mean all late 70's, early 80's shows were meant to be campy.

It was an action show with comedy, but not campy.

I once showed the Buck Rogers gem "Vegas in Space" to my Gambling and the Media class. They universally abhorred it--said it was the worst thing we saw all semester, and we saw some bad TV and movies.

I had to explain to them that this was made post-Pill but pre-AIDS, so it made sense for Buck to brag about getting laid to his female boss and then hit on anything with a pulse. Though for wanton exhibiting of chest hair he doesn't hold a candle to Jimmy Caan in The Gambler.

I think it was pretty campy. If you were 7 when it came out (like I was), you probably thought it was a serious look at the future (I did). But with some perspective, it's clear they were having fun with it. Didn't they do a "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" episode?

I humbly submit 'Jason of Star Command' Featuring the legendary James Doohan!

The epitome of "so bad, it's good". IMHO

I haven't read all the posts, so if it's already been mentioned, pity the poor person that watched it.

:)

I was given that DVD as a gift. It's sitting on a shelf not 3 feet from me. it's a large box with large lettering. I still forgot it existed till you mentioned it. :)

Someone mentioned Starhunter a ways back. I actually thought it was pretty decent. I was bummed that they rushed the ending, and then in the second season restarted in the future. Overall, though, I thought it was a pretty good premise, and had lots of promise. Nice arc flow, and a nice ratio of standalones. Though, the DVD set is a little hard to follow, since the first 8 or 9 episodes are all jumbled up out of order

Obviously, Bailey, you would not know good entertainment if it were right in front of you. Which goes to show that you, like RDM, are DEFINATELY from the Fred Frieberger school of television writing.

I would hate to see how Polaris will come out in the following months.

You know, when I tell someone to avoid someone and they don't, but within days engage them again, well, then, take the Romulan boot to your ass.

Am I witnessing a permaban here, or something less drastic? Sorry, but I've never seen the Romulan boot in action before.

On the topic, I saw Ark II, Space Academy, and Jason of Star Command first-run, but I was young enough to think they were cool. If I saw them again now, I might think differently.

On the other hand, I still think Land of the Lost and Space: 1999 are cool (even though the former has terrible scripting and acting, and the latter has terrible science). They manage to take some mind-blowing concepts and almost make them plausible. For that reason, I would like to check out The Starlost someday, just to see.

I usually cloak my actions, but every now and then, I want people other than the person in question to be reminded that when I tell someone to do something, I expect them to follow through on it and to not blow me off.

We grant a lot of latitude here and I'm pretty easy-going, but even I have my limits and they were reached.

I don't recall if it's been brought up, but, although War of the Worlds S1 was watchable (barely), S2 was a huge step down from mediocre, IMHO

Cleopatra 2525 should not be on that list. The theme song alone makes is grade A fun.
I couldn't stand the theme song, and I was actually a fan of the show.
Anyway "Andromeda" was pretty fucking terrible in almost every way.
Everything beyond Season One of Earth: Final Conflict...
I actually liked the first seasons of both these shows. Both had a lot of really cool sci-fi ideas. They would have been solid shows had they maintained the quality they'd started with. Unfortunately, both got progressively worse with every season. I couldn't even bring myself to watch the last season of Earth: Final Conflict.
As for movies, Highlander 2, anyone?
I know not this "Highlander 2" you speak of. If it every existed, it must have been so awful that I've blocked it out of my memory entirely.
Is it worse than Kristian Harloff's Nightfalls?
Time Trax - Criminals are out of time in Time Trax!
Hey! I used to watch that show. :(

It's amazing that the Alt-Right never thought to use Shrek as a symbol instead of Pepe. It would have been a great/evil callback to Time Trax.

Did you guys REALLY post to a SEVEN YEAR OLD THREAD - which prior to the last two posts above last saw a post in 2011? Wow someone really went to the last page on the Threads list.:wtf:

Yeah I was wondering exactly what led to this thread being bumped...
