Worst performance in a movie

Orlando Bloom in Elizabethtown. Man, I really, really wanted to enjoy that movie, but the boy can't act his way out of a bag. Oh, he's pretty, but, being pretty isn't enough.

Keanu Reeves in Much Ado about Nothing (he's fine when he sticks to parts within his range).

I haven't seen Halle Berry in Catwoman but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned her yet... Stephen Segal? Jessica Simpson? Paris Hilton? Madonna?

I'm at a disadvantage in this thread since I avoid seeing movies with actors I know will suck. :D

Simpson and Hilton are non-actors, celebs trying to crossover into acting. They don't count in my book...not as actors and not as human beings. Martial artists are similar, though I'm not sure Seagal was known for much before "acting".

Sharon Stone in King Solomon's Mines, but no one saw that one.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned these yet....

John Travolta in Battlefield Earth.

Kevin Costner in Waterworld.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck in Gigli.

Kevin Costner, again, in The Postman.

Keanu was also horribly out of place in Dracula. Granted, it was a nothing role, but he still stood out like a sore thumb.

Steven Seagal tried to get a Khan movie off the ground with him in the role before his career plummeted.

Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face. Man, he was just over the top awful. Uma Thurman was over the top as Poison Ivy but I actually enjoyed her performance. Jones was over the top but he was just annoying.

Schumacher said Jones was basically mean to Carrey on the set and was trying to outdo him while filming.

Keanu Reeves in Much Ado about Nothing (he's fine when he sticks to parts within his range).

Good call. I would consider that the most perfect adaptation of a Shakespeare story if not for him. He is hilariously outclassed by ever other actor in that cast. Don't ever play a villain again, Keanu!

If you watch "Natural Born Killers", you can see Tommy Lee Jones as the corrupt, over-the-top warden basically playing the same character he plays in "Batman Forever", but what worked in that movie (where I thought he was very entertaining) did not work for Two-Face.

I think his performance in "Natural Born Killers", name value, and the fact that he'd recently won an Oscar were the main reasons he was cast as Two-Face. WRONG reasons to cast someone in a part!

Shelley Duvall in The Shining.

As with many of my opinions, I've always had a hard time finding anyone to agree with me. I just think she is an absolutely dreadful actress. I realize it's probably just that I hate her "style", because big time directors wouldn't put her in their films if she was actually a bad actress. For me though, she's the one drag in an otherwise brilliant film. I found Rebecca De Mornay to be much better in the role in the made for TV remake (and yeah, I actually really liked that version).

I think Duvall is the ugliest human being on the planet.
