Worst Episode of Star Trek: Season Two Part One

Catspaw- Horrid, HORRID episode
The Omega Glory- Not a 'bad' episode, but not great either
Assignment Earth- This one was really bland

There was only one "easy one". The rest aren't bad.

My sentiments as well. I sat puzzling over this for a while. Oddly, my definition of the one bad episode would be 'The Omega Glory', though 'Catspaw' is currently in the lead.

S2 was the best season.

The most even season, anyway. There's only one genuinely bad episode, while there are plenty more in S1 (and S3, obviously). But when I'd list the top tier of TOS episodes, most are from S1.

Catspaw, Wolf In The Fold , and The Apple. I found these the most boring of the lot. At least 'Adonais,' 'Triskelion,' and 'Omega Glory' were interesting with some flavor. Adonais was a tragedy - one that I liked as a kid. Triskelion just has a campy feel, and for some reason I can't tear my eyes from the screen when it is on... Omega Glory was so stupid at the end, but it was so hilarious that I still remember it. However, the three that I selected were so devoid of emotion that even a Vulcan would find devoid of life. They are even more forgettable than the most boring episodes of Enterprise season 2 or Voyager season 3 (IMHO the worse seasons of those shows).

"Catspaw" and "Friday's Child" are my two least favorites, with "The Omega Glory" coming up a close third.

I picked "Catspaw," "Metamorphosis," and "Patterns of Force." And looks like "Catspaw" is "winning!" It just sucked so bad. Even the villianess wasn't that attractive! Most of the evil women in ST are hotties, but not poor Sylvia.

"POF" -- or should I call it "POS" -- is pretty stupid, too. It was the start of the space Nazis, after all!

And I was never a big fan of "Metamorphosis," as it had yet another cloud creature in it. But I did like the revelation that the creature loved Zefrem Cochrae, so it had that going for it.

I HATED "Wolf in the Fold". I found it to be an extremely stupid, insulting episode on a horribly flimsy premise. Let's see...Scotty for some unknown reason appears to have murdered a woman, let's beam down a female officer from the Enterprise and leave the two of them alone together, and of course Scotty kills her too! Fucking morons! No it wasn't Scotty's fault, but wouldn't the logical thing to do had been to lock him away after the first murder until they could figure out what the hell was going on? I just hate that episode.

Omega Glory was groan-worthy too, for reasons other described already. I couldn't make up my mind for the third so I only voted for those two. Being such a huge fan of Spock I cannot hate "Patterns of Force" as it's the only episode we get to see Spock shirtless!

Wow, what a good season. I could only choose one, and that would be "The Omega Glory". Bring in the American Flag!

Catspaw
The Omega Glory
and Who Mourns for Adonis?, which contains easily the most annoying portrayal of a spoiled-brat god that TOS ever did. And they did it like every week.

I can't believe all the hate for Who Mourns For Adonais? I liked that episode.

I, personally, could never hate that episode - it was the first Trek-episod I have seen, when I was seven. That is now almost 21 years ago.

The Second Round for Season One is now complete, with "The Alternative Factor" the (unsurprising) choice for TrekBBS's least favorite. It will compete against the "winners" from Seasons Two and Three. So on with the voting!

As with Season One Part One, in this round you can select the THREE episodes that are your least favorite. When this round ends, the five top vote getters will face off to decide which is the worst from Season Two. Let the voting begin!

It's got to be Gamesters of Triskelion. A rarely hackneyed idea, really bad design and costumes, and a production so careless that the fight director hasn't apparently noticed the line in the script about the combatants getting zapped if they step on the wrong colour in the arena.

This was a hard choice considering I liked most of these episodes, but I ended up voting for The Gamesters of Triskelion, Patterns of Force and The Omega Glory.

The only thing saving "Patterns of Force" from being in my bottom four or five is that it TRIED to have a good message and you have to hand it to the costume department for tricking out everyone in authentic-looking Nazi-era uniforms and duds. And the actor playing Isok did a good job in his role.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised Catspaw has gotten as many votes as it has. It's certainly no classic, but I always thought it was a fun episode.

Even some CGI Remastering didn't do much to help it...except for finally getting rid of the painfully visible black threads on the "real" Korob and Sylvia puppets at the very end.

Good thing I decided to copy down the poll results Friday night, because it looks like they've gone the way of the dodo. It appears as though the poll function is not working (or if it is, I can't do it) so we'll resume with the next round when that's sorted out. Thanks for voting!

Polls weren't transferred from the old board because there was no way to do it. And there's currently issues with the polls over here. I'll try and let you know when they're resolved, just in case you don't spot the announcement yourself.
