Worst Episode of Star Trek: Season One Part Two

It was a no-brainier, The Alternative Factor (though I did think about voting for Miri for a minute).

There were no bad episodes in the first season. Mudd;s Women is less interesting than trhe others so I checked that. No real SF premise involved.

Miri is solid. The rest are among the best. The first season doesn't have the action level the mainstream audience wants.

I wish I had a way to erase "The Alternative Factor" from the DVD...the dumbest ever, worst episode of the whole series...the stupid beard of his that gets bigger and smaller in each shot...I think they drank or smoked their way through this episode.

I've, still, not seen the The Alternative Factor and based on these comments I don't plan on watching it. So, I cast my vote for Return of the Archons, which I Loathe with a passion. :censored:

I have seen Alternative Facctor fewer times that any other TOS episode for the simple reason that I feel compelled to switch off the set whenever it is on.

The wierd thing about TOS I find, is that there seems to be something worth watching in just about evry episode - even if it is just a particular shot of the Enterprise or something.
I don't think there are any first season episodes I'd actually switch the TV off for, though there are some where I have to use fast forward for considerable chunks.

I'm sure that CNN and FOX would report that their exit polling showed that The Alternative Factor carried every demographic group imaginable...even the discontented conservatives.

Glad to see that "The Alternative Factor" is leading so solidly - it's hard to believe that those other four are even in the running.

Compared to the Lazarus mess, even "Miri" is Hugo Award-winning material.

For me, "The Alternative Factor" only just edges out "Miri"; the former is a complete mess, while the latter is a great idea (Plague-carrying feral children in a post-apocalyptic wasteland! How can you go wrong?) poorly realized, albeit largely for budgetary reasons.

Still and all, this was TOS' best season, bold and daring and screwy and trying hard not to repeat itself; I mean, it took some balls to assume that a viewing public whose normal quotient of TV drama was usually satisfied by The Big Valley would sit still for almost an hour of guff about two guys in crepe beards who can bring about the end of the universe.

first of all, no bad episodes in season one. and anyone who voted against Alternative Factor ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Vote closed, who won? I guess The Alternative Factor, which would have gotten my vote as well.

The final tally was: Alternative Factor 62, Miri 11, Mudd's Women 9, Charlie X 4, and Return of the Archons 2. Definitely a landslide for The Alternative Factor, which isn't really surprising.

Yeah. The long-maligned concept of Thinning and Thickening Beards in a Quantum Field.
