Worst characters in each series

Look what happened to the 4 TNG movies - unwatchable boring garbage by the 4th.
And look what you've achieved with your very first post!

Seriously - you use your first post to attack the shows to which this board owes it's existence? Great first impression!

Mehh if he didn't like Star Trek he wouldn't be posting here. What's wrong with discussing parts of the franchise we don't like?

^ Was gonna post basically the same reply. :) How about people post as they please without being attacked by protective trekkies? :D

ST: Scotty (not bad but not as lovable as he thinks he is)
TNG: La Forge (not bad but too little developed and what is present feels a little too inconsistent)
DSN: Jadzia Dax (inconsistent but generally annoying)
Voyager: Neelix (very annoying)
Enterprise: Archer (very petty and uninspiring)
Reboot: New Kirk (much like Archer)

Sisko's father: bad acting
Brock Peters a bad actor? Heh, no.

Yes, I think so. But all such talk is mostly opinion, so...enuf said.

There's a difference between a bad ACTOR and bad ACTING. Good actors can give bad performances, after all, and on film the actor is at the mercy of the director to say when it is right, as there's no audience from which to take a "pulse".

I have a very hard time believing the PTB of any successful franchise (ST, SW, James Bond, Dr. Who, etc.) waste a whole lot of time/effort scrolling through the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of fan comments left on the HUNDREDS of discussion boards/forums/blogs dedicated to that franchise but, hey, good luck with that.

I'll not pile on Wesley, even though he was a terrible character.

But as far as all the TNG characters who stayed the entire run I could not stand LaForge. He just seemed like such a wimp.

In part this is because I compare him to Scott. LaForge didn't have a commanding presence like Scott and despite the fact he was so brilliant, it seemed like he could never fix a problem with the Enterprise without playing 20 questions with the computer first. Honestly it was like he kept asking questions and the computer would say "Warmer" "Colder".

Scott was a no nonsense ass kicker who could drink, fight and take command of the ship when he had to. Plus he was able to fix issues with his own knowledge and come up with solutions on the fly without saying "Computer what if we did.......".

Plus LaForge was terrible with women. I mean the most intimate encounter he had was with a holodeck Leah Brahams where she made some double entendre comments about her body and the warp engines.

He seemed to get captured a lot and never really resisted interrogation, plus he never seemed to catch on that when he was captured they'd use his visor for some evil purpose that in "Generations" let to the loss of the Enterprise.

He was just such a whiner and LaForge centered episodes are usually my least favorite.

Let's just say I've been here long enough to recognize potential problems when a brand new member starts his posting history with an attack. ;)

It wasn't an attack but a critique. You'll notice that most of the core characters remain uncritiqued so it's not like I'm trashing star trek or something (though if I were, that's ok too - people can say whatever they want). It's just that some characters are really stupid and boring and it was my intent to see if others agreed. I could care less about 'first posts', forum communities and supposed seasoned experts that every internet forum has. :techman:

I personally don't think any character is bad.

Ok, Jadzia, never liked her....

Kes was sort of out-of-place, but she was cute. I can't say i don't like her.

Yeah, other than Jadzia i'm not sure there is anyone i really wanted out of the show.

Now it's just a matter of bracing myself to receive the Jadzia fans and they hatred.

Shields up! Red Alert! Brace for impact!

Star Trek - Nurse Chapel. Just no charisma and the pining after Spock was embarrassing.
The Next Generation - Commander Riker. The first two seasons the character was pretty cool. But by season three he was essentially playing administrative assistant for Picard.
Deep Space Nine - Major Kira. The acting style and voice of Nana Visitor was just grating.
Voyager - Ensign Kim. Yawn.
Enterprise - Ensign Mayweather. If there had been a potted plant at his station, would we have been able to tell the difference?
