Worst Cancellations This TV Season

2) Having read the pilot last month, I can confirm that it is a) not a spinoff the way DS9 is a spinoff of TNG ...
That has been known for months. I'm kinda interested in the series but if it doesn't get ordered it's not a big deal, it would probably be very similar to HIMYM.

It has been known for months, yes, but people seem to continue to mention that it *is* a traditional spinoff every time this subject comes up.

Enlisted really got screwed though. Friday night death slot, little promotion, airing episodes out of order and then not even showing the last few shows of the season. Through all that it managed to hook me with it's humor and heart and become my favorite new show of the season.

I confess that I don't even know what Enlisted is and I spend way too much time reading entertainment news. I guess there really was a lack of promotion. I've never heard of it! :)

Yeah, I really liked The Crazy Ones. No idea it had been axed. What made it work was the chemistry between the actors, which in turn made it fun to watch.

I have a feeling it will get a 3rd season, but if Orphan Black gets cancelled, that will be the worse cancellation this season. Hopefully I hear in the next few weeks, considering the season is almost half over.

Disappointed about The Neighbors - one of the sharpest shows in a long time, but was never destined to find a large enough audience.

Ah, the Firefly Treatment. Good to know Fox is consistent on some things.

Not that I'm *still* bitter or anything...

I'm unhappy about Being Human and Intelligence. I really liked those two.

I liked trophy wife, I could see tbs grabbing that one.

UK TV doesn't really work in the same way as in the U.S. - I don't really get why a company would go to the effort and expense of making a show and then bury it in a ratings deadspot, using lack of popularity to bury it.

Why would they do that - what is the advantage or the business reasoning behind it ?

I also saw zero promotion for Enlisted. The only reason I even know about it is because for part of the season I would record the show that came on before it. I would get to see about 2-3 minutes of Enlisted at the end and it was actually pretty funny.

Ah, I love having the Touch of Death.

Prior shows I really liked:

Sarah Connor Chronicles
Life
Eli Stone
Journeyman
Terra Nova
Earth Two
Space: Above and Beyond
Firefly
Dollhouse
New Amsterdam
Kings
(I could go on for a while, but you get the idea)

Recent shows I really liked:

Revolution
Intelligence
Almost Human
Warehouse 13

God help Continuum and Agents of Shield...

Almost Human and Revolution. I liked Intelligence but it being canceled doesn't really hurt at all.

Yea stinks about Revolution being cancelled :(. I was just getting back into it again.

One cancellation that didn't happen this year that I'm bummed about... CSI: NY. The only CSI I even give a damn about. And I was getting back into watching it... and they had to screw it up .

We only got a couple of episodes to enjoy Pierce-less Community before Troy left, and Abed without Troy is like... well, you can live on one kidney or one lung, but nobody can live with only half a heart, and Troy & Abed were the heart of this show.

Sorry, if you're asking me specifically, I don't really pretend to understand the ins and outs of the television business.

Maybe someone who is more familiar with the industry will stop by and provide some insight?

No network wants a show to fail, that's just something fans like to claim when one of their favourite shows fails to find an audience and it's easy to point out "mistakes" in hindsight but those mistakes didn't happen out of malice if they even were mistakes in the first place. Many shows thrive in the friday night death slot, many shows become successful without a big advertising campaign and many shows crash and burn despite getting one. Airing episodes out of production order is not a big deal unless the series is heavily serialized.
If enlisted had found an audience people would praise Fox for many of the same decisions, how it was smart to put it on friday etc.

And once again I have to defend Fox, they do not cancel shows more often or faster than other networks. And i'm officially sick of people whining about Firefly after 12 years. It never had a chance, with or without Fox, it was space based sci-fi, when was that ever successful on network tv unless it had Star Trek in the title? At the same time it was a western, which made promoting the show even harder, a sci-fi/western hybrif with advanced space ships and hick towns that use horses and carriages ... oh, and space zombies.
I can see why Fox had trouble with the show and didn't know what to do with it but instead of simply passing on the pilot (which they easily could have done!) they picked it up and gave it a chance.
Yes, they failed spectacularly but people should stop acting like it would have been a long running success if not for Fox's mistakes (or deliberate sabotage ), that is very unlikely. That the movie was a financial flop kinda proves that there wasn't a big audience.

Yikes, please don't watch or like the following new shows:

Flash
Looking (not new but only 8 episodes old, it's still a baby)
iZombie
Constantine
Marry Me

Thank you.

I'll give you Gotham, stupid premise, please kill it.:rommie:

I dunno, I think Family Guy proves the success of a show is significantly related to a network's treatment of it. The original Family Guy run was hardly promoted, kept changing timeslots, and ran new episodes in six episode blocks with several months in between. So it got cancelled even though its fans loved it, and then when it came back and they actually promoted it effectively, it was much more successful.
