This makes me wonder what it takes to have a success in gaming? On my bucket list was to develop an MMORPG. How much does it take to get from A to B and get a little profit to continue making product?

Subscription-based MMOs as a business model are on their way out.

Allods Online a F2P cost 20 Million USD? The idea of a MMORPG is appealing for many reasons but does it cost a mega jackpot amount to develop a decent game of this type? It seems so. :(

ETA: I am guessing the days of a few friends and a dream are gone.

Well, you can certainly build a great MMO as an old-school "garage" dev.

You'll just have to find a niche, because you won't be competing directly with AAA titles. Times have never been better for smaller developers.

My idea just involved Elves & epic kitty mounts. :D

    T & A seems to work in MMO's :rommie:

Oh jeez, you should really think about developing a crappy f2p MMORPG for the Asian markets

I actually also have one or two Horde characters.

Regions are still locked down though, aren't they? No cross-regional transfers allowed?

I bet they haven't removed regionalization. Then again, they have done a lot of things over the last 10 years they said they'd NEVER - EVER - DO.

I thought for sure with the extended maintenance yesterday that they were going to activate flying in WoD.

That's said to be Patch 6.2.1 or something like that. Somehow I don't think they'll do it until after LFR can do the last wing of Hellfire in another three or four weeks. I estimate I will finish the Legendary ring questline in Five weeks. Maybe Six.

So apaz Blizzard is down to only 5.6 million subscribers.

You people who only read this thread and don't play should feel ashamed! YOU are part of the problem!

Which was what they had in the middle of the rise of Vanilla.

Some of the people left after the rest of the Warcraft 3 villains and heroes are done. The fanbase was Warcraft 3 based.
