World Cup 2010 - South Africa Thread

Wow, I didn't expect that. The Swiss were pretty good, too. Spain, as well, though. Seems like the curse on Spain is still in effect, despite winning the EURO 2008.

While I doubt this means Spain is not going to make the next stage, it also continues to muddy any potential final predictions.

I wouldn't even be so sure about that anymore...

Neither Honduras nor Chile looked like push-overs to me in the earlier game and Spain probably has to beat them both now. Their chance of advancing certainly is below 50% now imo.

I'll wait until their next game before I write them off completely. Could've just been a fluke.

I'm not writing them off either, but they are under a lot of pressure now. This is exactly the reason why just taking 1 point away from the fist game is so crucial in this tournament.

Great stuff from the Swiss and unlucky not to make it two. Chile were very good today as well so Spain should be very concerned. Especially as they need to finish top to avoid Brazil

I'd go so far as to say Spain are screwed in fact.

Before today I would have said Spain and Chile would easily take control of Group H, now, everything's looking less certain.

Good job, Switzerland. If everything went according to the predictions these World Cup finals would be very boring.

I think the deflection made it a goal. Made it slower and gave it much more of a loop. Uruguay playing much better than SA though - I really dislike teams that stick a lone guy up front.

I wonder if any African teams have a chance to make it out of their groups.

I wouldn't count out Ivory Coast or Ghana yet.

I loved the way Nigeria played, but I just don't think they have the strength to get out of their group.

Cameroon bored me to sleep, so I wouldn't know how to place them.

South Africa should just stick to rugby - its the only sport they are good at.

It's pretty bad for the home team to go out early like that, though. But they really aren't good enough.
