At one time I was doing some stage hand type work at a con, and at one point looked up and found myself face to face with Michael Dorn (Lt. Worf) Due to some technical difficulties for the group ahead of him on stage I was able to talk with him a bit about the show.

One of the stories he told us back stage was that Lt. Worf had a second lesser known job on TNG, It was his responsibility, at any time, without warning, to assassinate Captain Picard. Patrick Stewart especially loved this when the camera was rolling. Michael Dorn said he (Picard) would die all over the bridge…spouting Shakespeare. At one point, one of the crew timed him and it took him almost 15 minutes to expire.

At that point the techs got the sound problem sorted out and we had to go back to “work

Michael Dorn said at a con I attended that almost every time Patrick Stewart turns away from the viewscreen and camera, Stewart made a face at Dorn to try and make him laugh.

At this last Las Vegas convention, Michael Dorn said he showed up for filming of DS9 expecting it to be a fun cast and crew, but said no one laughed or joked or smiled.. and that he would rather just forget those years! I enjoy seeing the friendship shared between the cast of TNG... must have made going to work a heck of a lot easier. I was able to talk to Michael Dorn a bit this time about meeting him at the Miramar Officers club when my husband flew F-14's. He came every year for the airshow and no one recognized him.. but me and a few others!

Well, I like to think each cast ends up sharing something with the 'captain' actor.

Shatner and Stewart were big goofballs on set and thus, a goofy set.

Brooks strikes me as a very somber and serious individual (not a shot at him but...in the interviews I've read, I've never laughed once).

Mulgrew, I've heard, was very frustrated and irritated most of the time (usually with the producers) and judging by some cast comments (Wang and Beltran especially), they weren't happy campers, either.

It probably also does go straight to the top with the guys in charge, too. Berman sounds like a killjoy, Braga sounds like an irritating punk while Roddenberry seemed very mellow, very good-humored.

TOS and TNG were fun to work on.

All others haven't been.

I think that says something.
