Worf's future

I had always thought it was messed up that in Nemesis, they brought in some faceless guy to be Picard's first officer, after Riker leaves, and Data "died." I felt that it should have been included why Worf returned to Starfleet (IE cut scene, or some explanation like he couldn't stomach politics), and specifically stated that Worf was was appointed third officer on the fast track to second officer of the Enterprise-E, after Riker left, with Data going from second officer, to first officer. With Data gone, Worf should have been tapped to fill the first officer role. Fitting, considering that he assumed chief of security after Yar died.

After all, he had served on the Enterprise-D for seven years, under Sisko for 4, was the Klingon liaison officer and ambassador, and finally was the some-time "captain" of the Defiant, when Siskoand Kira were otherwise occupied. Plus, he had served as first officer on at least two Klingon vessels, under both his brother Kern, and under Martok. So, Worf was more than qualified, even with the "you'll never see Captain" reprimand Sisko was forced to give him.

As to Worf's fate, I think he should have made captain eventually, just not the Enterprise. He would best serve as a captain of a Defiant class, or a Prometheus class ship, where the mission of the ship would be more tactically related. I would have no need to see him killed off. In fact, I'd like to see him finally just chose to live in the Starfleet world, rather than the Klingon world. Only Starfleet ever gave Worf a true home. The Klingons never truly embraced him. He never got his title, lands, and position on the council back. He was just accepted into Martok's house, but that isn't the same as having his name and title restored. Worf's position of prestige in the Klingon Empire would likely only last as long as Martok was in power. Without Martok, I could see Worf's political enemies, especially ones on the high council, would see to it that Worf's influence would be stripped. Worf would have no influence, and I can see him being bitter, especially after all he did for the Klingon Empire over the years. Maybe he would be willing to stoo recognizing some Klingon traditions that didn't fit his Starfleet lifestyle. So, by that logic, Worf could live to 150+ without some weird code that he lived too long. Admiral of Starfleet security, or Starfleet tactical Ops would be a fitting end for Worf.

They could've brought Worf on as a diplomatic passenger in Nemesis. And then the Enterprise E gets pulled into its mission and as the crisis unfolds, Worf gets thrust back into his role as tactical maestro. The writers should've played with series canon instead of struggling to remember his canon fate.

Worf travels back in time to the 21st Century and saves Mark Wahlberg and a Teddy bear from certain doom. Nowadays he runs a bait shop in Arkansas.

Worf ends up a sad lumberjack in the Pacific Northwest.
Worf lives in some remote logging community where he encounters another sad sack who happens to be a carrier of the augment virus. Worf gets infected by the virus and is immediately taken to the Dr. Phlox medical clinic where he is given the antivirus cure.

Worf loses his forehead ridges. And he lives happily, or sadly, ever after as a human look-alike. Worf's journey had come full circle.

Or ...

The Gowron and Duras loyalists finally have something in common, a hatred for Worf, the man who killed their respective leader. They have had it with Worf. They team up and assassinate Worf. Worf dies in glorious battle. He got the battle that he always wanted.

Worf discovers the Guardian of Forever, he goes back in time and saves Jadzia from Gul Dukat, the couple decide to use the portal to live in 23rd century Federation running a strip club on Risa. Worf's identity is obscured by the Archer virus that he deliberately injects in his forehead. He starts to predict the future of Alpha/Beta quadrant sporting results and becomes known as NostraWorf.

Well, Worf's future in "All Good Things" had him being a governor of a minor Klingon colony, but that future was erased apparently, then at the end of DS9 he becomes the Federation's ambassador to the Klingon Empire but then in Nemesis he's a Lt. on the Enterprise again. So I guess it depends on which one you pick
