Worf Vs. Mickey D In "The Royale"

I think Richey is off-base. If you have to be trapped in a book by an alien, then a casino setting is just about the best you can wish for. Plenty of food and drink, gambling, showgirls. What else would you want? Imagine instead getting trapped in All Quiet on the Western Front. Or in some gothic melodrama like Wuthering Heights. Give me The Royale any day.

Eh, as somebody who doesn't enjoy drinking, gambling or show girls the Royale would pretty much be hell for me.
Plus I think a lot of the problems the astronaut had were because all the people there were dumb, shallow stereotypes from a cheesy novel.

Though finding a novel where it would not be horrible to be trapped in is quite difficult. Like Wuthering Heights is my favorite novel, but I agree I would never want to be trapped there, heck I wouldn't even want to be in the same room as some of the characters (but that's also true with the Royale characters). Plus what role would they give you? Mr. Lockwood? Great... you spend eternity in drafty room in a house full of people who hate each other while some nursemaid tells you their backstory...
With some books it depends on what scene and locale the aliens choose (like Middle Earth isn't so bad if you get to live in Hobbiton, Rivendell or Lorien, but very bad if they stick you in Moria or the Siege of Minas Tirith)

I suppose Jane Austen Novels wouldn't be so bad, you're a member of the English gentry and your life is basically eating, gossiping and going to dances, either in the countryside or in Bath.
And if it has to be a cheesy, cliched dime store novel then why not one that takes place in the Caribbean, a Greek Island or the Provence? At least you get to lie on the beach all day there.
