Worf and Sisko's relationship...

but I think Ezri says that Worf is a bit intimidated by Sisko... anyone remember that? I don't think it was mentioned above...
I thought of that as soon as I saw this thread.

I considered that a ridiculous statement. Admired maybe, intimidated no.

But the fact of the matter is that Star Trek is fundamentally AUTHORITARIAN. Authority is almost always portrayed as correct and wise and everyone is supposed to be a good little follower.

I respectfully disagree, if only because of the sheer amount of corrupt Starfleet admirals there seem to be :)

That being said, Worf may have been "intimidated" by Sisko's confidence, given how Worf may have told Jadzia that when he was new on the station, and given his rough start (think was it F&GR?). Or maybe just how different Sisko seemed than Picard... its probably not black and white.

For me, a prime example of Worf being intimidated by Sisko (and rightfully so!) was when Worf accidentally destroyed the wrong ship in battle and was court-martialed for it. Worf being the good Klingon that he is confronted that fear and manned up to Sisko, which got Worf one hell of a stern lecture (as stern as Sisko likes to be, anyway), but at the end of that wonderful scene, Worf looks positively relieved once Sisko tells him to go to his own party.

I recall 2 from TNG, the Ensign Ro and The Pegasus episodes. But I actually kind of agree with the one from Pegasus. Picard was an idiot for turning off the cloaking device in front of the Romulans.

That is why I like DS9 best of the Treks. Starfleet is too goddy two shoes, butter won't melt in its mouth for me.

Wasn't Sisko corrupt in In the Pale Moonlight? I think that was a GREAT Episode.

I loved Ming the Merciless when I was a kid.

I was always surprised they didn't have more of an adversarial relationship; the article in TV Guide when Worf was added to the series said that Worf and Sisko simply wouldn't get along.

To wit, there's also Admiral Jameson, who tried to stay eternally young, and Admiral Dougherty form Insurrection. If we want to go into TOS, there's Admiral Carwright from VI as well.

But I loved what DS9 did with the Corrupt Admiral cliche: Admiral Leyton was one hell of a villain and fleshed out character, one who could've wrought the most havoc out of all the corrupt admirals out there.

...Which is sort of weird, considering that Worf in and after TNG is a celebrity and a great believer in trampling one's own path. Picard may have been a father figure to him, but he's all grown up now. Why would he willingly submit to being a student again? What would he have to learn from Sisko that Picard and the "fellow" Klingons would not have taught already?

One would have expected a sort of "Don't you know who I am... Sir?" attitude of him at first...
