So far as I'm aware, the Ryan Johnson thing has only ever been just a stated desire by both parties to work together on more movies down the line, and Johnson's own stated ambitions. Nothing solid has ever been promised, let alone announced.
Currently he's pre-occupied, so I wouldn't expect movement on it one way or another for a few years at least.
No thanks. "God duo" my assMore made from the God duo. Favreau and Filoni. t
I think I saw an article somewhere that was dated to sometime in the last few days that still claimed it was happening.Oh well, the Rian Johnson trilogy is still definitely coming soon though.![]()

Better file a restraining order.I think I saw an article somewhere that was dated to sometime in the last few days that still claimed it was happening.
They'll be threatening us with this thing forever.
Lots of people liked that movie, and it made over a billion in the box office. After the travesty known as "The Last Jedi" . . . YIKES!!!![]()
There comes a point where deliberation and caution shade into incompetence and cowardice.the financials seem to be tightening, not loosening, so investing in a movie involves committing money they may not feel that they have right now.
Ask Joss Whedon.Lots of people liked that movie, and it made over a billion in the box office.
So why wouldn't they give him more?
I trust you'll support my candidacy for president of LFL then? There comes a point where deliberation and caution shade into incompetence and cowardice.
Joss has also had a lot of success.Ask Joss Whedon.
Fair enough, but even that is a pretty soft announcement. No dates of any kind, not even a vague premise of what it might actually be about, when in the timeline it's intended to take place, or who they might have in mind for the cast. Like I said, more a statement of intent than anything substantive.Cough.
I mean, that announcement was from 2017 and I agree that it’s going to be some time. But I’m also wondering if he’s not going to be doing X-XII and is waiting until the time is right. If that’s the case, why they decided to announce that when they did, I have no idea.
Now I wait for the inevitable “Rian Johnson ruined Star Wars” responses.
While not great was better than the other two. After the travesty known as "The Last Jedi" . . . YIKES!!!![]()
Pretty much my experience nowadays. Few things are "the worst ever" or ruined things" in a franchise. There are some that are good, some that are bad, and some that are just not for me. Mandalorian has a mixture of both, with the lore building and ancillary character being some of the better aspects, while the main character leaves much to be desired. Same with Andor, and even the PT. But there are beautiful things in there in those pieces too. There was a lot of stuff in TLJ that I liked, and also a lot of stuff in TLJ that I didn't like. (But you could probably say the same for a whole lot of other SW films!)
