Women. Re:Valentines Day. Do You Agree?

For perfume you need really specific requests, don't buy anything. You will be sold whatever crapola the sales assistant has been told to push. If you really want to go the surprise route with perfume, go Chanel.

I think the absolute worst present on that list is the cute stuffed animal, but that's just me. Good advice about the flowers, do some actual thinking and picking out, don't just buy the generic.

Not really. Any gift is appreciated. A small appliance? That's an odd thing to give for Valentine's Day. It's supposed to be about a small token of affection. I got roses and chocolate covered strawberries from Hubby this year, but he gave it to me on the weekend, to make it a surprise. I thought it was lovely. I like getting flowers of any kind, at any time. As long as the gift isn't downright offensive in some manner, it really doesn't matter what it is.

If your girlfriend tells you she likes roses and perfume then GET her roses and/or perfume. It is NOT a trap, unless she's some immature little nut-job. Find out what perfume she likes and maybe get different colored roses. It really is the thought that counts.

Most of that article is about putting in some personal effort rather than just running into some Val day display and grabbing the first thing there. Personal effort is always good.

I would LOVE red roses, chocolate, stuffed animals (yes, even at my age), racy sleepwear (what, just being honest).

HATE PERFUME WITH A FIERY PASSION. I get one whiff and I start coughing and become short of breath. If he ever buys me perfume (again), I will know he's trying to kill me...

In all honesty though, all I want is a card... or something written/created. And his time/complete attention for the night. Just want some effort to make me feel special. Spending money isn't necessary.

I have the same problem, perfume can bring on an asthma attack so I do not use it.

The rest of the presents would suit me though I am a bit particular about my soft toys. They have to 'speak to me' for me to like them if you understand what I mean.

I definitely agree. I never buy them for myself unless they are something special... such as my Mr. Spock. :p

But if he spent time picking it out I'm still going to love it, if only for that. :)

^Exactly. The fact that someone went through the thought and effort is what makes it a nice gift.
